[[Return the Favor]] and [[Pact of Negation]] trigger to win!?

I played a recent historic brawl game where someone used Pact of Negation on me with enough mana to pay for the delayed trigger. But with that trigger on the stack, I copied it with Return the Favor, thinking the game was probably over for me regardless.

Much to my delight, Return the Favor put a second copy of the triggered ability on the stack. Opponent then paid for the copy I had made, but the second copy was still on the stack, so they lost!

Chatting about the win, other players think this shouldn't have worked.

So, did I find a cool interaction or a bug?
