Guaranteed Transfer with club leadership + recruitment questions

Hi,

Recently, I was notified that I am a guaranteed transfer at UChicago in the 2027-2028 academic year. I have a few questions regarding club leadership opportunities and other recruitment-related questions.

My end goal is high finance in NYC, such as BB IB, PE, or something similar. I also plan on majoring in Bizcon if I decide to transfer.

I was wondering if it would be much more difficult or even impossible to achieve leadership positions or even get into top finance clubs at UChi, such as TBC, Promontory, and business frats like DSP, if I come in as a second-year student?

I was also wondering if recruitment becomes more of a challenge, missing my freshman year due to potential concerns like not being able to network with upperclassmen, or other concerns I haven't yet thought of?

Thanks!

Should I consider UChi guaranteed transfer?

Super unexpected, but just heard back from UChicago that I am a guaranteed transfer for the 2027-2028 academic year!

This is rlly exciting news and I have time to decide if I want to do it or not, but I'm just wondering how much consideration I should really give it.

Currently, I'm committed to UT Austin in the Canfield Business Honors Program and planning to major in finance at McCombs. At UChi, I'd major in economics.

My end goal is high finance in NYC like BB IB or PE or something similar. I was wondering does UChi's prestige and much higher overall ranking give it enough of a boost over UT Canfield to give me a significant upper hand in reaching my goal or not?

Main things I'm concerned about are UChi grade deflation and the fact that many people who major in econ there are pure academics that are going into research or interested in getting PhD's (which is not a route I'm currently considering).

I'd love to hear thoughts on this, thank you!

I’ve been seeing posts where people r saying they received calls from AO’s telling them they are getting off the waitlist. I’m not one to answer my calls rlly especially from unknown numbers so I was wondering if I should start doing so to make sure I get off waitlist. Or would they send an email regardless?

Incoming UT student who is hoping to land a triple in JWest with friends. Heard it was nearly impossible but wanted more input on if we should even try or just go for two doubles.
