I spent $9 on Grillo’s and they are bitter 😩

I love making my own pickles but all my pickling cucumbers have been bitter this year due to the extreme heat. I spent $9 on Grillo’s and they were clearly made with bitter cucumbers. Usually I really like Grillo’s, too.

My grocery store has been out of all the Claussen varieties except for spears and sandwich slices. Worst summer for pickles ever. 😭

Potty training tips for an adult chi?

Am “fostering” this guy (lol, like I could give him up) since Tuesday. He is 2 years old, was rescued from the street in Chihuahua, Mexico as a puppy, and lived with a family there until this week when they gave him back to the rescuer and said they can’t care for him any longer.

He was doing ok with potty training but now we are regressing. I know this is a skill issue on my part. I used pee pads with my last chi but I adopted him when he was 8 and he just kind of did whatever he felt like doing, especially in his old age.

Really want to get off on the right foot with my new baby.

My volunteer snapdragons in their first bloom

Took these photos June 2. They have since gone to seed due to the heat but I trimmed them all back and they appear to be gearing up for their second bloom.

All of my snapdragons are volunteers. I have a community garden plot and I planted them 2 or 3 years ago. I leave them to go to seed every year and they come back better each year.

All 3 of my orchids bloomed recently

I’ve had the first one for 7 years, second one for 5 years, third one for 3 years. All bloom once or twice a year. I’m very proud of them. 🥹
