How's your electorate looking?

One thing I'm surprised how little I've heard/read about so far this election year is almost anything regards certain electorates that could play a big part, definitely not an area Labour excelled in across the country last time around.

How's the vibe/situation in your electorate? Any changes or specific noticings since last time? Unfortunately my electorate is a pretty safe National seat, even in the direct lead up there's never anyrhing to be heard from the competition apart from their names on the voting forms 😔 bit boring as well as our mayoral election often being a one horse race lol

Shane Jones Canada Debacle

As if this couldn't get anymore comedic gold(to the point maybe it's less funny now).

I genuinely didn't think it could get more absurd after Shane Jones stating "I presume that's when I was in chilly cold snow blizzard riddled Toronto." to defend the use of a limousine for 24 hours.

Then Winston Peters stating that "booking a limo is acceptable as long as you "use it to the max"

Now it looks like Jones was only staying 3 minutes from where he was there to work!?

Standard gross sense of entitlements like the accommodation payment don't even look as bad anymore since this situation + Karen Chhour's strange problem of understanding how a short term carpark should be used, also doubled down on by her party leader.

It doesn't matter what side you're on, surely everyone should be concerned if these people are representing us and can't get their head around the most basic concepts?

If this is a reflection of their intelligence (even in the sense of picking a 'crime' so easily caught lol) lord help us 🙈

I'll link a video of Shane Jones being questioned on it originally. I would love a behavioural analyst to break it down lol watching someone actively lie like that can be fascinating. Classic malingerer.

Te Pāti Māori

Until a couple of days ago when Hana-Rāwhiti Maipi-Clarke spoke out about sticking with TPM I had genuinely forgotten they existed.

Aside from the infighting, I can't recall one thing they've talked about this term (not even when controversial policy is being floated that affects Māori & the treaty). I'd call myself pretty actively involved too.

I know I can Google it (& I will later) but genuinely off the top of your head when was the last positive TPM news story or idea? Especially with the weird way it looks like the Māori vote will be split, I wouldn't even want them near a Labour lead coalition. Just utter messiness (I do like/respect Hana and am surprised she's sticking with them) I think (although not Māori myself, that Labour has enough Māori representation to handle that side of things without them)

Is it just the echo chamber effect (although I try to break out of that) and they're actually doing some good stuff out there?

Look forward to some healthy chat hopefully 😀

CC CSC Discounts

Evening. Organising an appt with Cannabis Clinic after a long break & wondering what the options are with community services card discount now? From experience it was almost always easier knowing exactly what I was hoping to get from the get go.

Thanks in advance 😊 (or any specific Chch pharmacies if it's pharmacy based, not wanting to do delivery again after a nightmare almost every delivery once it hit damn Wiri depot 🙈)

Can't remember the dispensary code if anyone has that either, chur

Mental Health District Inspectors

This is a bit niche but unsure where else to ask.

I'm needing to connect with a Mental Health District Inspector as part of filing a complaint. Does anyone know anyone currently working who is good?

It's not an urgent issue now, so it doesn't apply to just contact the one on call. Obviously I can contact all on the list, however I had such painful experiences trying to even contact them (let alone get the support they are paid to do) when it was actively problematic/urgent, I'm dreading going through it again lol. The one guy that was fantastic was retiring the very next day 😭

Any recommendations would be very appreciated 😊

Use of AI after job application

I'm super curious if anyone recently has been rejected from a WW job application BEFORE getting through to the AI questions, video questions etc. Super interested to know if they're just putting everyone through that bullshit lol

Declining social etiquette in NZ

Edited to add: Super aware what FB is like (hence why this is on reddit lol) I mean it in a wider societal context, certainly not confined to FB unfortunately. From how our politicians talk, to moving over on the sidewalk for someone with a pushchair, to how people speak to the receptionist at the doctor's, the decline is noticable in so many areas

Have been meaning to post this for a while but this mornings event has pushed me over lol.

Event being in response to a *completely* non controversial comment on a 1news FB post about vape research, someone from NZ has sent me a 3 second voice memo saying "Hey *insert my name here* go suck ya mothers dick" 😅😅😅 Good Morning to you too Kelley

Anyway, does anyone have any legitimate ideas of how on earth we slow down this strange deterioration of society? It's sooo unconstructive (& costly in terms of time wasting) when it erodes the ability to have any level of constructive discussion.

We don't all have to agree, it's simply unrealistic (and tbf would be a bit dull) but the second either side jumps to name calling you've lost all hope of reaching a mutual understanding.

Just my 2c

PS dw Kelley has not ruined my day and I didn't bite back 😊
