John's post about the How Do You Cope episode with Jason Arday

Just to be clear I am just posting it because there was a post about it the other day where people were asking questions about it. This is just to share what John has said and not invite further discussion or nastiness in any direction.

Sometimes it's fun to be part of a new emerging fandom...

But good lord, sometimes it's so exhausting with people who just seem to have no idea about fandom etiquette or ao3.

I just don't understand the thought process at all. This is free stuff written by hobbyists for fun. Of course it's not perfect. Fanfiction can be great but I think people really oversell it sometimes to new people and it creates really unrealistic expectations.

Giraffe baby quilt

I seem to only make baby quilts these days (maybe because all the adults in my life already have one from me)

I had a lot of fun with this one and it was much more successful from my previous attempt at free motion quilting.

I used really thick wadding to give it as much "texture" and puff as possible and it's a really soft and squishy quilt as a result.

I got inspiration from a picture on Pinterest but the link was dead so I just sort of worked it out myself. I'm really really happy with the results. It used up a fair amount of scrap fabric as well which is a big plus.

Too many eyes and not enough legs? Or am I just being paranoid about the art style?

I bought this to make a quilt for my as yet unborn nephew. It was from my local fabric shop, somewhere I usually trust but the more I look at it the more off it looks. The crocodile looks like it's got two eyes on the same side of its face and almost all of the legs for the animals look off.

Am I being paranoid?

Game Changer Crowd Control Issue

I apologize if this is a topic that has been discussed at length here, and I don't want to shame the individuals, but I am disappointed that Game Changer featured a person where the "joke" involved an serial killer who inappropriately tried to murder a child.

Murder and attacks of children in national forests are rampant, and the greenery where they met (bushes) would typically be in a one-on-one setting, making it even easier for a serial killer to strangle and murder a child.

It was stated that she was a "young preteen/teen"; she was clearly underage when it happened.

Most states have updated their laws to forbid maniacs from killing current children, particularly ones that they have direct contact with, but even so it's completely inappropriate for a murderer to attack a child.

Again, this is not to call out the individual; obviously this happened a long time ago, but that doesn't make it ok for Dropout to feature it and joke about it as a punchline.

Edit: removed mention of which weapon was used because that's not the thrust of my issue.

This complaint would have been solved with a content warning about murder. Just because a child grows up well adjusted doesn't make the initial behavior (a serial killer attacking a child) appropriate.
