Feel a little like my boyfriend of four years and my mother are fighting over me:

Bf called me earlier this evening. Everyone in the house was kinda watching tv and doing their own thing, so I figured I would pick up. We talked for a little, he asked if I had eaten anything for lunch and I told him I had some of those IHOP protein pancakes. He made a joke something along the lines of "protein? And you're not gonna work it off at the gym?" It hurt a little but no one said anything and we kept talking. At some point, my mother drifted into a little nap, so I went into another room to boot up my console so he and I could play some games together.

When we hung up, I went to my room to work on some assignments and do some studying, then I went to take a shower. Mom stood on the other side of the curtain and interrogated me as to why I was in my room so long. Then when I told her, rhetorically asked why I had called my bf before doing schoolwork. She then spoke to me about how the entire family felt as though I hated them and that I was "burning bridges for a boy I hadn't even met yet," and then she said, and this is word for word as I remember it, "And by the way- that comment he made? 'protein pancakes? You're not gonna go to the gym and work that off? He's an a**hole."

And with that she left.

I don't really wanna ask for my bf's opinion on all this. He apologized for the comment, said he didn't realize it would hurt me, and that he wouldn't say anything like that again. But I don't want the hostility between the two of them to get worse, and to be honest, it feels like they're fircking fighting over me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm in such a weird place where I don't trust anyone close to me because of all this and I can't tell who's in the wrong. I would really appreciate some honest and helpful answers guys, and if you have any other questions, please ask

I'm not asking if I should like break up or anything, I guess I would just like to know what in the world is going on between the three of us and how to handle it...
