A simple life

Trying life out with out the big magenta box in the rig and life has been good so far. I 3D printed the rack mounts for the NTS-1s and made the cardboard booster seat for the rack ears because the rack depth was just a touch too shallow for one module.

Introducing Gorge: Valley Audio Plateau reverb for the Korg NTS-1 mkii

Gorge is a Dattoro-style plate reverb with a huge parameter range allowing for all sorts of reverb, echo, shimmer, ambience, slapback sounds and a lot more. Most assuredly proper usage with the external audio input.

Gorge is a port of the beloved Plateau reverb by Valley Audio. This is a cpu heavy module; issues may occur when used alongside other deep oscillators and effects.

Download the ready to load file for a small fee to support my work, or access Gorge’s open source code on my GitHub. Links in linktree.

3yo friendly spots to watch the WC Final?

Where is a reasonable spot to bring my 3yo to watch the final today? Preferably a restaurant/cafe, but open to other venues. If the weather holds, outdoor/patio/beer gardens are better because the kiddo can run around but open to anything really.

Update! Squall v1.1: Clouds reverb for the NTS-1 mkii now available

Update! Squall v1.1: Clouds reverb for the u/korgofficial NTS-1 mkii is available now!

Follow the video to the Youtube video description for download instructions.

Happy reverberating!

What’s new in v1.1:

—Added SCAN functionality to emulate turning the Position knob while Freeze is engaged on the original Clouds module.

• While Freeze is engaged, hold Osc and turn encoder to select SCAN

• Turn Knob B from 50% to 100% to color frozen buffer.

• Turn Knob B from 50% to 0% to progressively allow new audio into the buffer.

Rotate Knob B CW past 50% to lock again.

Did my child just lose her 3K seat?

This is my first time navigating this process, but we confirmed and accepted a 3K seat in district 16 well before the deadline to accept. Even before we accepted the offer we received numerous confusing emails from my schools saying "You've been given a new offer" only to be followed up 3 - 4 minutes later by another email saying "Your offer has been declined." I work in SWE and IT and so we thought ok the system is glitching nbd. We accepted our offer and moved on.

Two weeks ago we got a similar flurry of emails and thought nothing of it. Yesterday I log in to MySchools to check our waitlist status and I see that the original offer that we accepted and have a confirmation email for is listed as "declined." I was shocked. My partner quickly confirmed that they definitely didn't do that nor did I. Something was changed in the system and now our daughter has no seat.

I called myschools and they said they've seen this happen before and it's typically the school itself that is rescinding this offer. They also recommend reporting the whole ordeal to esenrollment@schools.nyc.gov, which I will be doing. I called the school who directed me to a somewhat unidentified person who is handling the schools 3K enrollment. They said that after the acceptance deadline the schools have a lot of control over the lists... but we had already accepted a seat and it was confirmed.

Has anyone else had this happen? How is it at all reasonable to unseat an already confirmed child for the school's own process? I would appreciate some perspective here thank you.

Squall reverb and Lirah-1 custom oscillator demo

I took a trip into the mountains of New York to focus on some projects and I brought my instruments along.

Both my custom projects for the Korg NTS-1 mkii are on display here. Squall reverb, which is a port of the mutable instruments clouds, and Litah -1 which is an emulation of a single voice from the Soma Lyra-8.

Search for these projects on GitHub and Gumroad.

Still finding new quirks with Strega after nearly 2 years

Sorry for the shaky video 😬 I found this method of hearing subharmonic (+distortion??) tones on Strega using the blend knob, a patched feedback loop, and the envelope follower CV out- at least I think that's what's going on?? (As is the always present sentiment with Strega). A three note sequence dramatically changes timbre and pitch as I adjust both the input level knob and the blend knob. Tell me if you think I have this right in my head or something else is happening entirely.

From what I can tell, as the signal grows in strength from blend being turned down, or audio in being turned up, the follower CV increases in voltage which then lengthens the time setting which also drops pitch. Why there seems to be a certain threshold where the pitch will shift dramatically I cannot say, but that's what I have so far.

Here's the patch:

Result out >> external in

Follower CV out >> Time attenuated modulation bottom input with bipolar attenuator turned CCW

Triangle out >> Time attenuated modulation top input with unipolar attenuator at ~50%

I also have the standard gate in, agitation patched to activation "envelope" patch going as well. Subharmonic out is patched to interference in but completely turned down in the video.

Lirah-1: Soma Lyra voice for the Korg NTS-1 mkII

Introducing the Lirah-1 custom oscillator for the Korg NTS-1 mkii.

Lirah-1 is an emulation of a single voice from the Lyra-8 organismic synthesizer produced by SOMA Laboratory

A two fm operator synth, Lirah-1 also features the original “hyper lfo” for pitch shifting, feedback, wavefolding, and an assignable lfo.

Follow the YT link for download instructions.

Lirah-1 is capable of many different textures- from shimmery and pretty to growling and dirty and everything in between.

This is the second of my custom projects for the Korg NTS-1 mkii. What other synths or effects would you like to see?

Plucky ploppy psych with the Make Noise Trio

I just added the 0-CTRL, and I've been focused on how it and the SQ-1 can work together. This is one of the first results.

Here's a demo video for my first Logue project: Squall reverb for the NTS-1 mkII

Squall is a reverb emulation of the Clouds eurorack module originally made by Mutable Instruments. I used the original reverb dsp for an accurate representation.

Instructions to download are in the YT video description.

Thanks and enjoy the reverberation!

Today I'm releasing my first logue project, a port of the Mutable Instruments Clouds eurorack module reverb effect for the NTS-1 mkii. Everything from room to hall to cathedral and a near infinite wash with the depth at 100%. The project makes use of make, enjoy!
