help needed re gradient logo

Hi everyone, i have a client that i have been asked to work on the brand identity for, they have an ai generated logo (i know, i hate this too) but they are heart set on it and dont want to change the logo itself, despite my comments, what we are trying to figure out is the best colours to use to make it look good on both light and dark backgrounds but we've hit a bit of a roadblock, does anyone have any ideas?
Side note, i am not really liking using a gradient, it causes all sorts of issues like if you want it embroidered it can be tricky etc, but the client really wants to keep the gradient too, despite me telling them this and showing hem solid options.

I have included their brand colours they have sent me too, and for the record, i actually prefer the old colourway, but they want to include purple and brighter colours than what they had previously

Free cover design for new/small authors

Hi everyone,

I’m a graphic designer, illustrator and book cover designer, and I’m currently wanting to experiment with a new artwork direction that blends whimsical style hand-drawn animation, inspired by Studio Ghibli, with a more dramatic fantasy feel.

Rather than just making something up for practice, I thought it might be nice to offer a free cover design to a newer or indie author who may not currently have the budget for a designer.

I’m happy to work with most fantasy concepts, as long as you’re comfortable with the general style direction and having at least one dragon included on the cover. Everything else can be shaped around your story, characters, setting and genre.

I’m not sure if this is something anyone would be interested in, but if it is, feel free to comment or message me and tell me a little bit about your book.

Just as a note, I don’t use AI in my work. I know there’s a lot of AI-generated artwork being passed off as handmade at the moment, so I wanted to be clear that I draw everything myself by hand either on paper and scan it in, then edit in Affinity, or directly digitally using a graphics pad.

I also have a background in marketing and consumer psychology, so I’m interested in not just making something pretty, but creating something that feels aligned with the book and would actually make someone want to pick it up!

I have included some progress photos of a recent illustration i have been working on, I cant add my site link here, but if you'd like to see more of my work send me a message and i will send the link:)

If this is something you'd be interested in, feel free to pop me a message!

As a note to mods, please do delete this if not allowed, i wasn't sure if this would be classed as self promotion or not, since i am not promoting any paid services and am offering this completely free of charge, just in exchange for me to be able to use it in my portfolio, but i wont be offended if you remove this
