I’m not sure if the problem is my feet, my shoes, or just out of shape

Hello! Yesterday I got a foot scan at Fleet Feet and left with a pair of Hoka Bondi 9. They’re super comfy for walking in and I love them, best fitting shoes I’ve ever had now that I know my real size. But this morning I tried to run a VERY small amount in them, and the right edge of my right food started hurting really bad. The walk back to my car was rough. It feels totally fine now though, about 5 hours later. The shoes I’ve been wearing for my walks are Lone Peak 7s, zero drop and not that much cushion. These have a drop and tons of cushion, so I’m wondering if that’s a bad mix for my feet? I’m no runner, but would like to be as I lose more weight. So maybe it’s just because I never do it? I’m just worried it’s a shoe issue and I don’t want to end up hurting myself.

Pain after switching to Hoka, did I make the wrong choice?

I’m not a runner, but I want to start to as I lose more weight. I’ve had the Altra Lone Peak 7s for several years now, and I’ve hiked and walked in them a lot. I loved them! Never had any issues, super comfortable. I’ve been doing more walks locally at places that have paved trails, and have noticed the soles of my feet hurting once I hit the 3 mile mark, I assumed from lack of cushion. I’ve also been doing some short stretches of jogging to try and work my way up to when I can really start running, and same issue with the bottom of my feet hurting more.
So I went to a shoe store yesterday and explained what I needed, got a foot scan, etc. Tried on a handful of shoes and I really liked the Hoka Bondi 9. Love the cushion, loved the fit. I went this morning for a walk at my usual place, great start and super comfy. But decided to try and run in then just a little ways to see how it felt. At first it felt great, I felt like I had some bounce so my knees and shins didn’t hurt like the do sometimes. Walked more, then did another little run, this one didn’t feel as good. The outside edge of my right foot started hurting pretty bad. Walk back to my car was no fun and it just hurt more the further I went. I only made it 0.75 miles today.
My guess is it’s a combination of not running normally, plus a different shape/style shoe than I’ve been wearing the past few years. If that’s all it is and I just need to give my feet time to adjust, cool I can do that. But I’m worried I got the wrong shoe for my feet and I really don’t want to end up hurting myself. Any advice or input is very appreciated. Below I’ll add some info from my scan if that helps any.

Arch height: both are low, but left side is a bit lower.
Instep height: both are medium, left is a bit lower.
Pressure distribution: both are all the way over on ‘lateral’.
Arch flexibility: both are rigid, with the left being more rigid.

Starting week 3!

I took my third shot this morning, and so far I’m feeling good about this! My first shot made me feel kind of awful, but second was fine and hoping third is good too. I’m down 7.5lbs over the last 2 weeks. I lost 4lbs the week before my first shot due to a limited diet from wisdom teeth surgery, so I think that was for sure mostly water weight. I’m seeing it in my hands I think, my watch had to be tightened and my bracelet seems to almost come off sometimes which it never did before. I’m the type of person to feel hopeless easily with things so this has been super encouraging and I can’t wait to see what else happens! And also I do know this weight loss will slow down, but it’s fun to see the number go down quickly for now :)

Do I have a good misclassification case?

Location: Washington State, and Colorado

Here’s everything broken down to hopefully make it clear. I appreciate any input and advice!

Original Hire: May 2024 as a W-2 employee based in Colorado.

Role: Operations (Core business operations, dual-control tasks rotating among a small team).

Transition (March 2025): Due to health issues, I requested to relocate to Washington state to be near family for their support. Management agreed to the remote work arrangement.

Forced Resignation: One week after my relocation to Washington, the CFO and my supervisor informed me I could no longer remain a W-2 employee and had to become a 1099 contractor. I was instructed to send a email stating I was no longer going to be and employee. Due to stress from my illness and financial vulnerability, I complied.

Current Status: Working remotely from Washington state as a 1099 contractor from March 2025 to present (May 2026).

Evidence of Misclassification
Despite the "independent contractor" agreement,my job reflects a standard employer-employee relationship:

No Change in Duties: My job description, team structure, and daily operational tasks remained completely identical before and after the W-2 to 1099 switch.

Core Business: My work is 100% vital to the daily operations of the company. We operate under a strict "dual-control" protocol requiring a minimum of two team members online to execute operational tasks, and there’s only 3 of us.

Behavioral Control: While I have flexibility for appointments, my schedule is heavily dictated by operational necessity. I must coordinate all time off around my two W-2 teammates to ensure dual-control coverage. Further, my supervisor has recently taken direct control over my daily schedule by dictating the exact time I must take my lunch break each day since I’ve been taking it whenever.

Financial Dependence: I am economically dependent on this single company; I do not operate an independent business, nor do I market my services to other clients.

Possible Wage Theft
The 40-Hour Restriction: My 1099 contract explicitly dictates that I am capped at 40 hours of work per week.

Uncompensated Overtime: Due to fluctuating weekly volume, I frequently work between 41 to 43 hours per week to complete my operational duties.

The Paper Trail: I submit weekly invoices to my supervisor that exactly log my actual hours worked (e.g., 42.5 hours). My supervisor reviews and approves these invoices before forwarding them to administration.
Despite the invoices clearly showing hours worked in excess of 40, i’m compensated for a flat 40 hours.

I am entirely responsible for my own health insurance (which I can’t go without) and have no access to PTO. Following a recent surgery, I had to return to work after only one day due to the financial impossibility of taking unpaid time off.

I walked 10k steps for the first time in over a year

Yesterday I managed to walk 10k steps! I did 2 miles in the morning at a flat park, then I did a 2 mile easy hike in the evening. I’ve been doing about 2 miles every morning for the past month except for one week because I had my wisdom teeth out, so it was big for me to double it. I’m 5’2 236lbs with a mild heart condition so it’s hard, but I’m trying. But today, I’m wondering if I should wait a while before trying to hit 10k again. I did it and I’m proud of that, but I’m soooo tired and sore today. I only managed to walk for a mile this morning. I’m wondering if I should wait for the soreness to pass then try to hit 10k again, or if I should ease up a bit more until I’m able to manage 10k daily without hurting the next day. Thoughts?

Second injection, still nervous

I did my second injection this morning. I’m down 4lbs since the first one last week, so I’m happy about that! But last weeks injection made me feel awful. It felt as if my blood sugar had plummeted by the evening and I was woozy and weak. It hadn’t, I checked, but just felt like it. Since it’s week 2, my app says I’ll have the most in my system tomorrow that I’ve had so far. I’m anxious about if I have that feeling every time, it lasted about a day and a half. Also I discovered today that injecting in my thigh hurts a lot more than my stomach, so that’s good to know haha
