Reincarnation sounds so perfect!

Stumbled into a quick video showing the road map just now.

Reincarnation coming this year, and if I understand it, we can restart at level 1 with a trio in exchange for stats/cap raises?

So perfect!

It will be so huge (for me?) as providing not only more reason to play by experiencing things you missed or passed by, but with a purpose.

I'm more excited now than I've been already (if possible).

The only area I hope they explore improving in a different way than EQ is an economy. I like having non-combat things to do. Maybe the road map has that.

Have they mentioned if expansions will still target being able to solo content with the right gear, AAs, and trio? I sure hope so. I love being able to group but not needing to.

Here's to our legends starting Tuesday!

Graphical Issue (Artifacting?) - Need Help Please

I’m hoping someone else has experienced this and knows how to resolve it, because I’m not sure what else to try.

My family is new to EverQuest, so none of these computers had a previous EQ client installed. I performed clean, default installations on four different machines. Two work perfectly, while the other two have the exact same graphical issue. I even borrowed a neighbor’s laptop for additional testing (the fourth one used).

I’ve attached a phone video showing the problem. There is a strange type of artifacting or flickering around objects throughout the game, including trees, mobs, and UI elements.

A few unusual things I’ve noticed:

* The artifacting disappears when I switch from full screen (the default setting) to windowed mode.

* Windowed mode causes the resolution and UI sizing to become unusable, but when I immediately switch back to full screen, the artifacting is temporarily gone.

* It eventually returns, usually after zoning, logging out and back in, or restarting the game.

* When I tried recording the problem with Xbox Game Bar using Windows+Alt+R, the artifacting disappeared as soon as recording started.

* The moment I stopped recording, it came back. That is why I had to record the screen with my phone instead.

The native resolution on all three laptops is 2560 × 1600, and all four computers use NVIDIA graphics cards. I updated the NVIDIA drivers on every machine, but it made no difference.

I also used the graphics and display settings from one of the working laptops to the two affected laptops, but the problem remained.

Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a fullscreen, refresh-rate, scaling, NVIDIA, or compatibility setting I might be missing?

Unfortunately, the laptop I plan to use when the game releases is one of the affected systems.

**** EDIT: I know some people hate AI but I fed video, screenshots, etc. to a couple LLMs and it helped me solve my issue. If you're having similar or different issues, check below - I'll post what one of the LLMs said and two things worked (so far) so one or more items might help you if needed ****

I can't order my perfect monitor (on paper) - any experience with 27" Dell/LG?

Purpose: Coding / Authoring (text) and Gaming

I've never had a dual monitor set up so finally wanted to get my first, and wanted to stick with two 24" monitors as my eyes do better on a smaller, crisp, focused area.

I stumbled into an article about the ViewSonic VX24G26J-4K and it seems PERFECT except...it's not out in the United States and no indication of when/if it will be.

The other options I could dig up are models by KTC, AOC, and lesser known brands (does not mean they are inferior) but it seems the sweet spot for performance and quality is now 27" vs. 24"?

With further reading (I'm no tech expert), it seems my two best options are:

  • Dell Alienware AW2725Q
  • LG UltraGear 27" 4K UHD

The Dell is about twice as much as the LG, but it's ok if it's worth the difference. It's hard for me to decide as I don't know what I don't know, so to speak.

Anyone happen to have experience with both by chance, or maybe own one or the other.

I'd love if you can share why you pulled the trigger on it as I really need to order something early this week.

Thank you in advance!

Leveling gear and confusion about type of gear you can/need to wear?

I have two questions as a new EQ player:

  1. Is there a piece of gear or two that would make sense to seek and get which can either provide QoL or combat help to benefit me when leveling multiple classes over time?

I find it fun to hunt for gear so any advice is appreciated. I know no particular gear is necessary, but it's fun for me. Ideally I can acquire these while leveling.

  1. I am a bit confused on how types of gear work. Example: If I could only play a caster, I could see being limited to say...cloth. A tank? I could wear plate and below? So as long as I have a tank class, can I wear plate, chain, leather, and cloth as I choose to mix it?

New to all things EQ - Excited about Legends!

I just found out EQ Legends is releasing next month! Read about it, got excited, and just signed up for pre-order and access to Beta on July 1st.

As you can imagine, I'm trying to read up on what information is available.

The hard thing for me is in reading this sub, Discord, etc., it's clear a lot of what is discussed has some implied understanding or context for many of you who likely played EQ, the game that shall not be named (this considers it a banned word?), etc.

Is my understanding correct here as a complete newbie?

1) Teleporting to experiencing content (QoL)

From what I can tell, Wizards and Druids get ports and the self-ports are pretty much all available by ~level 25 or 27 between the two. If I create my character with Druid and Wizard being classes #2 and #3 and get to 25/27, can I then switch to two other classes and still use the port spells to travel or I assume no because I need to stay as those classes to have access to the spells? It seems this would be a big QoL benefit to do this first, especially for someone new to it all?

2) It is my understanding we can eventually be all races, classes

I read somewhere (can't find the source) that with crafting, only your primary crafting competency can go to a certain level, all others are a bit below it? If that is true (and helps to know!), is there anything I should know about restrictions as to what race/class I start with as my primary and anything it will prevent me from doing (e.g., I don't know what I don't know)? Or stick to the "play what you like rule"? From what I can tell, there are no restrictions to good/evil classes being combined, or limits on what they can do together.

Thanks in advance for noob question answers.

** EDIT: Thank you all, this is great! I get I don't really need both classes now, ty. I do definitely plan to explore everything but it's nice knowing at some point that I can hop around quicker when needed. It's also helpful knowing that at some point I can max all trade skills (crafting) if I want. In short, early choices will not gate me from anything, just more work potentially.

** EDIT #2: Yeah, I've seen screenshots and realize the graphics...are definitely a throwback. But re: Ogre, if these images are semi-accurate, who wouldn't want to adopt a face only an Ogre mother could love! The chest hair? Added bonus. I'm ready!

Going crazy with left-Alt key behavior (Lenovo 5i Legion, love it!)

Ok, I've tried everything so time to ask for help.

Recently, my alt key started acting up. I realize now what's happening. When I use Alt, the other key I'm using it with in combination works the first time, then the Alt-<other key> works until I stop. Then again, first time it's without the Alt behavior, then it works.

Example is Alt-tabbing. The first time I use the left Alt key, it will just result in normal tabbing behavior. Then it Alt-tabs fine. Right Alt key? No issues.

Things I've checked:

  • No Sticky or Filter key settings turned on or set in Windows
  • Uninstalled all keyboard drivers, rebooted, and had Windows reinstall it
  • Used enough compressed air to clean anything in there, I feel light headed
  • Ran through every running process to see if there is anything unusual

It HAS to be some app or service or setting, right? The consistently weird behavior can't be a physical issue, can it?

Rustic... or Italian? [Rustic Italian Bread]

Please know I love Costco quality and their products but I'm either a bit of a culinary idiot (likely) or just grumpy that I went there for the walnut cranberry loaf I LOVE and they didn't have any. Not even a tag.

So I bought what you see in the picture.

Thing is, it tastes like your average white generic bread. Not bad. Fresh. Crisp crust. But... it's just white bread.

What makes it Italian and even more so, what makes it rustic?

Is it because they added EVOO? The durum flour?

I feel they could relabel this next week to Greek Carnival Bread or Spanish Armada Bread and it would apply, no?

If only that cranberry walnut bread was there! Sigh. Why did you make me question my knowledge of white bread Costco?

How can I explain this to Charter so Tier 1 doesn't tell me "All looks good from over here!"

This sub helped me find PingPlotter (such a nice tool that doesn't kill you with spam until you subscribe, which I will, as needed) and it shows visually what I'm experiencing, but I'm not a network person and I'm having trouble getting Charter Tier 1 to help, beyond "All looks good from our end." 😞

BACKGROUND: This happened once before. About 12-16 months ago. I called Charter, and as we're talking about increasing my plan while saving a few $$$, whatever they might have done somehow fixed the issue, or it was highly coincidental. I even upgraded my DOCSIS modem and router just to future proof (this was a couple weeks after the issue magically went away).

ISSUE: Fast forward to a few days ago, and the problem is back. Every minute or two, sometimes much more frequent, I get this hang up or lag. It's noticeable with any online activity.

After trying everything on all devices, wired or not, I ran PingPlotter. See below.

What can I ask Charter to do as my service is not "ok" and I don't know in words that might help me, what to ask for other than to escalate. Thanks in advance.
