I’m very unprepared for how I’m going to feel once first frost hits as I’m from SoCal where we pretty much can grow things year round. I at least started up my seed trays already with hardy annuals to plant out in November!
mai tai has been the only dahlia lucky enough to produce a bloom this year first frost is a month away and I’m afraid I’m not going to see the faces of any other dahlias
Wanted to make something more autumn-y so I took out the roses and added more zinnias, cosmos, and some explosion grass
Also wanted to mention that all of my arrangements are made with wire as mechanics, I usually compost everything after it wilts so I don’t want to get microplastics on my soil 🤭
I’m so happy that my zinnias, at least a few of them, are beginning to get going. Still upset that I have 0 dahlias, but temperatures are dropping back down in a few days so I’m super hopeful!

It’s been so tough waiting for my plants to establish in not only the soil but the huge jump in climate from Los Angeles to Nashville. So happy to say my cosmos, celosia, zinnias and echinacea are starting to show their little faces
Was blessed with a cool spell this week that made my roses happy 🫶🏻 had to take so many pictures of these beauties
So grateful for my roses pulling through this Southern heat, just planted my dahlias and plugs into the ground last week so I’m hoping to get some of those blooms soon 🫶🏻
I just moved from Los Angeles to Nashville and the soil was a huge shock to me. I’m planning on amending it to plant my fall flowers, but I’m wondering if anyone has had success growing directly in the native clay soil without amending just to see if there’s any potential seeds I can plant without needing to amend?
Thankfully the house came with a few shrubs, patiently waiting for my dahlias and annuals 🫶🏻

I’m moving from California to Clarksville Tennessee and I’m wondering if I could keep my roses outside or should I buy a greenhouse to keep them protected? I’m afraid of them getting RRD because I have a lot of international varieties from Japan and David Austin

My husband describes the house as a “ranch house” but I’m not really a fan of ranch related styles. I’m not super fond of the color palette the house has right now so I’m really debating on either bringing in color, or continuing with the muted, sandy colors it has going on right now. A few styles I’ve looked into that I’ve been drawn to for bringing in color have been mid century modern, neo deco, and biophilic. To kind of go with the more muted aspect it already has I was thinking of japandi, minimalist, and Mediterranean.
Any suggestions either color-palette wise or style wise I would really appreciate!
