Learning SQL and Python quickly

Hello, I am starting in a graduate position at the end of the month. My new manager just got in touch with me to tell me that he expects a good level of knowledge for both Sql and python (after I asked what might be helpful for me to come prepared with), even though we discussed these in my interview and I told him that I knew nothing of python and had used Sql for a week during some work experience but his email conveys much greater expectations.

I’m working full-time until I begin there but want to make the most of my weekends to learn as much as I can, I would welcome any suggestions for free courses or other materials to learn and practice sufficiently before I begin (I’m a very hands-on learner). Every time I start a course, I tend to abandon it because I’m worried that I’ll invest too much time in a course that isn’t helpful enough for practical work. Thank you .

Pets on the island 🐕🌞

Hi all, I’m a solo traveller staying in the south of the island for nearly a week now. I have loved everything about my trip so far but I have noticed there are a lot of stray dogs and they terrify me. At first, it was just the strays but now I’m seeing pet dogs within people’s private compounds running up to the gates and looking ready to jump over and out. I will be here for two more weeks, so can anyone recommend anything to avoid these dogs, I usually love them but so far they have been coming up to me and licking and it’s making me want to cut my stay short (hoping to stay another two weeks) as I am getting worried even to leave the apartment. Thank you for your advice!

Nervous about visit

I have always wanted to visit Thailand as it looks beautiful and exciting. I finally booked my trips for mid June and have realised I’m terrified of wildlife especially snakes and lizards and rabies from bats. I’m also worried about food poisoning and am scared of sea creatures too. I’m from the UK where I rarely encounter more than a duck but grew up visiting India where I’d see cows, goats and dogs roam freely- I’m not so scared of these as I’ve grown accustomed to it. I’m visiting Bangkok and wanted to go on a hike but have been advised not to if I’m this afraid of everything. Does anyone have any realistic precautions I can take against my fears while still trying to be adventurous? I will be staying in a hotel.

I was seeing my SP for 2 months ish a few months ago, he seemed to be really into me but then ghosted me out of nowhere for a month. I did nothing because I was hurt and he texted me to check in a month later. I texted him a month after that and offered to meet up but he hasn’t texted me since. He’s moving abroad for a new job and I really want him to stay so I can manifest us being together but also don’t want him to miss out on the opportunity. Any advice? I’ve been focused on the advice of living in the end but I get stuck when I feel like I’m pretending that he’s texted me or that we have plans etc because I feel stupid

Hi all,

I am a recent graduate starting a job on 30k, I recently realised I miscalculated my student debt that I will need to pay back knowing now that it comes to around 50 K rather than 36K, I don’t know much about paying it off but I’d like to pay it off as soon as possible as I feel uncomfortable knowing that I have debt. However, I have heard people say that it may be wiser to just repay the minimum and invest the remaining money as well as highlight that it gets ‘wiped’ in 40 years? Any advice on what the best way of navigating this would be is appreciated 🙂!

Thank you.
