UPI transaction to Freecharge wallet failed, money debited from Central Bank of India. Will it auto-refund?
Hey everyone,I ran into an issue this morning (June 10) while trying to add money to my UPI Lite wallet on Freecharge. I tried to load ₹1,886, but the transaction timed out.The Problem: The Freecharge app explicitly shows the status as "Failed" due to a technical issue at my bank. However, my bank (Central Bank of India) immediately sent an SMS and updated my statement showing that ₹1,886 was debited from my account. What I've Done: Right after the failure, I sent a ₹1 test transaction to the UPI Lite wallet, and it went through instantly, so the servers are working fine now. I have also called Central Bank customer care and raised an official dispute/complaint, but the executive gave me a standard script saying it would take up to 15 days to investigate.Since Freecharge marked it as a hard "Failed" and didn't accept the money, it seems stuck on the bank's end.Has anyone faced a similar issue with Central Bank of India or Freecharge recently? How long does it usually take for the automated nightly reconciliation to reverse the money back into the account? Should I expect it in 24–48 hours, or does it actually drag out?
