Greetings all, and apologies if I've not found the correct group to ask my question.
I'll start with the question, and provide background after if anyone wants to read it.
Q: Is there any free or reasonably priced software for Windows that can search thousands of scanned images and flag likely duplicates for my review?
Duplicates arose when I scan a packet of "double prints" or perhaps reprints found in a different box a few hundred scans later. The images will not be 100% bit-level identical, due to the nature of mechanical scanning. However, I'm hoping for a fuzzy-match that I can review and delete the duplicate scans.
I've started to scan all of my 50+ years worth of photos, slides, and negatives. I purchased an ADF scanner (Ricoh ix2500) for prints, and an HP FilmScan 5 for film. I already had an old Canon 8800F flatbed scanner for larger or damaged prints. My aim is not necessarily to make the highest quality digital scans, but to make a logical, searchable index into my collection of analog images.
Keeping things organized has been a challenge. If I find a photofinishing envelope with both negatives and prints, then I just scan the prints and make a folder with my own contrived unique number. I have a similar process for orphaned prints and orphaned negatives. I may have invented an inefficient process, but it fits the way I will want to organize everything later.
I'm also building a database of all of the cataloging details. Information like the film twin-check number, if available. Also tracking my contrived uniquely assigned number per batch, the approximate date (decade?) and media type scanned.
When I've finished, I will have uniformly-sized tubs of uniformly-sized packets, organized by my cataloging number. I'll generate a printout like a library card catalog, and have an external hard drive with all the scans. Then I can pass this on to my sons to do with as they please. We are all into genealogy, so hopefully they won't just chuck it all into the trash.

I believe it was part of either "Computer Aided Dispatch" or "Executive Security Systems". This image was from a 1978 slide deck (literally 35mm slides). There were some variations on this design, but all kind of like this with lights and pushbuttons.
I think "Modat" was a part of how this worked, but again my memory is fuzzy.
My dad sold these, but I can't remember what they were called. I'd kind of like to find one on ebay for nostalgia.

Greetings. I recently bought a 100mL bottle of cleaning fluid "Cleaner F1" made by PFU limited in Japan, now a part of Ricoh. It is intended for use cleaning the rollers and optical scanning elements of a sheet-fed photo scanner.
Because I'm a curious fellow, I looked up the CAS number printed on the box, 577-11-7, and discovered it is the same over-the-counter substance I occasionally take for constipation (docusate sodium, 100mg). My dosing is one to three capsules, so up to 300mg. The cleaning product is 0.5% by weight docusate sodium, which I think is about 500mg for the whole 100mL bottle.
The box has several warnings about toxicity, including skin contact and ingestion. I assumed there must be something else in the cleaner that is toxic to handle besides the docusate. A google search for "Ricoh F1 cleaner MSDS" AI result said it was in a solution of isopropyl alcohol, or alcohol/water mixture depending on regional shipping regulations. Fair enough, I wouldn't consume isopropyl alcohol, but I don't worry about getting it on my skin. After all, it is applied directly to the skin for massage therapy.
The MSDS sheet I found for USA audience says it is > 99% water and < 1% docusate sodium, which seems even less hazardous than the alcohol variant.
Is this simply the manufacturer trying to ward off lawyers, or is there something else I need to know?

Since I can't post a picture, I'll try to describe it.
It's a compression spring from an auto-injector insulin pen. Each end has the coils spaced near zero interval, as is common on this type of spring. However, in the center, there are a couple of coils also spaced near zero.
This does not look like deformation, but like it was designed this way.

Hello all - I'm new here. Please be kind and excuse any transgressions of customs here that I'm ignorant of.
My problem in a nutshell - I reimaged my boot drive with Windows 11 (was windows 10). Now I want to convince Postgres server running on my machine to find / use my old existing data which is on a separate drive.
I need help with a couple things:
