So I’ve been collecting CDs for a year and half probably, so kinda new to that. I’m always buying original CDs, not counterfeit, where you can check IFPI and so on. I’m from Russia, there were a huge market with official licensed compact disks, and of course counterfeit pirated disks in 90s-00s. They are pretty easy to avoid, and sellers always mention that they are of RU origin. And they are very cheap.

But recently, I’ve started seeing Chinese (probably) copies, that 100% identical to original EU or US copies. They are sold a cheaper than original versions, but IFPI, art, everything to little details is very very high quality copy. You can’t even tell them apart. There are a few shops like that online. But now they are everywhere. They are started to leaking in used market, new market, where sometimes I think even seller don’t know he is selling counterfeit, selling it as original for a price that is pretty high.

Anyone has dealt with it ? As 99% of CD shopping here is online, I can’t trust anyone anymore, lots of those copies floating around everywhere, and if you are buying brand new CD I’d even remotely popular musician, it can be fake one. Extra bonus is paying a lot more for them than you should be, as you can’t spot the difference in most cases.
