It’s to the point now where I’ll only drive during very specific hours of the day. The climate in the winter is terrific but this is the part of Florida nobody tells you about when you move here. Or, at least, think you’re exaggerating about the driving experience. It’s really this bad.

Why does this happen to me so frequently that I feel like I need to make a Reddit post about it

Please pause the clip in the final frames where you will notice 2 totally unoccupied lanes of traffic that were freely available to drive in, but instead, just made more sense to cut across 3 lanes of traffic to slow down a regular driver for absolutely no reason at all. WHY DO YALL DO THIS!?!?!?

Anyone ever put the black tailgate stickers on an already black truck?

Black 23 LT, first time caller long time listener. Have recently blacked out all my badges which I’d been wanting to do for a long time, and have started adding some other accessories, but treading very lightly. I’m pretty plain Jane when it comes to exterior modifications that aren’t something typical like big tires or a lift. There are some “mods” (hate that word) that I feel like toe the cool/trashy line very very closely, and I do not want to cross that line.

This seems pretty minor, but was just wondering if anyone with a black truck had tried these on the letters and if they liked the look of them? Or was it a pretty small/unnoticeable change? Thanks

Fellas - head straight to the back and flip through the dvds when your mom isn’t looking. Trust me.

Specifically you’re looking with the ones with little black covers on them.

Anything cool I can make while practicing soldering?

Have wanted to learn how to sweat for a long time and have finally decided to give it a go. I bought just a handful of random couplings, t’s, 45’s, 90’s and own about 15 feet of pipe. But was wondering if there was something cool I could make a a key ring holder or something for the workshop while also learning how to sweat. Thanks

MX Master 3 battery dud?

I'm a MX master 3 loyalist, to me its the perfect mouse and I have no desire to look elsewhere for an alternative. I like this mouse so much so, that I own 3 - One for work, one for personal, and another on my homelab server that doesn't get used as much.

Anyways, they're all 3's connected via the dongle. My work mouse works great, and the battery on it is terrific, couldn't tell you the last time I charged it, and it still has 50% battery. That computer is on at least 40 hours a week, often times longer.

My personal 3 is newer, had it probably less than 6 months and the battery is just not comparable to that of my work mouse. The battery declines rapidy, and I have to charge it probably once every 3 weeks. It probably gets used for 3 hours a day on average, with the computer being off when not in use. Not gaming or doing anything crazy with it, mainly just browsing the web or looking up geeky tech stuff.

So why is that the case? did i just get one with a bad battery? its the same model and both have the same means of connection. Granted, my personal is on a mac and work is on a PC, but still feel the battery should perform much better than it does.

Can not update firmware on new Ikea Matter/Thread battery powered child devices

Snagged a bunch of IKEA's new matter/thread devices earlier this year because I wanted to give thread an honest shot and see how it performed. I have a decent selection of their new releases. 4 of the (usb powered) air quality sensors which are pretty great for the price. Also have a handful of buttons that I have not set up yet, one leak sensor thats hot and cold connection wise, and then this contact sensor and laundry room switch.

For the life of me I can not get these to update their firmware. I've been attempting to do so for maybe close to 2 months now and they just will not update. Have tried moving them closer to the thread border router, restarted, all that jazz, just will not update. Looking to see if anyone has encountered and solved this problem

They gave me an additional “o” instead of a “d,” didn’t realize it until I was down to the last piece

Got these matte black overlay badges and like them, but would like them more if they came with a complete set. I was just grabbing random letters and didn’t realize until I was finished they missed the “D.” Look like such a jabroni now. In the market for some “LT” ones if anyone knows where to get them. I’ve wanted to do this for while but I’m terrible at eyeing things up straight and level, so felt this was a good compromise. I’d never know the difference personally

Can I move the Tee up to make main water shutoff valve more accessible?

Hi all. I’m getting a moen smart valve installed and was curious if it would be alright to move the T that services my washing machine cold up further in the wall so I can more easily access the shutoffs should I need them. I just installed the current one the other day (live in a condo that did not have one at all previous to this week). While I’m thrilled to have the new shutoff the location is not what I’d consider ideal. It’s behind my dryer and below the platform for my water heater. I’d like to have the new one ideally above the dryer and easier to access. The current T more or less just goes straight across that wall and upwards to service the washing machine. Can I raise that T above to the light green zone and then 45 back down to connect to the washing machine? Thanks

To hell with excess or an embarrassment of riches?

Hello all, I’m the not drug addict who posted about peeling all the paint off his walls the other day (still sober).

Anyways, from what I read online about the original painters never using primer and the entire room just peeling off easily, it suggested to mix in a skim coat during the priming process.

I’d say I’m no longer a novice, but definitely still a beginner. Have maybe 10 or so small projects around the house done with mixed results and seemingly a different experience each time I applied a new coat.

Anyways as all us newbies do when it comes to a new drywall project, I consulted with our guy VC on YouTube and he showed how to skim walls by applying with a paint roller and scraping the excess off with like a 12” knife. One thing I noticed that I never really noticed before was that he’d scrape off the excess into a pan and basically be done with it. Scrape, wipe off in pan, repeat. I did exactly this and the project went so much smoother than I had anticipated. Results were better than I expected and didn’t take all that long either.

I think it’s just a byproduct of being raised to not be wasteful, but I think a major mistake I’ve been making all along was trying to continue to work with scraped off mud when I probably shouldn’t have, which just ended up making everything more difficult compared to using good, fresh, wet mud.

Anyways, skim coated the entire bedroom and another small project I have elsewhere and discarding the scraped mud about 95% of the time after a clean swipe. I have about a full painters tray of “used” mud. Is that too much waste? Or is it better to use as much “fresh, wet” mud as possible and fuck what comes off the wall? I’ve never dry walled for a paycheck in my life, it just seems like if I had some old crusty supervisor watching me he’d be pretty pissed off with all this unused mud, but the job was so much easier and with far better results using this method

Entire wall peeled right off (no, I’m not a tweaker)

Again, I’m not a drug addict. I was going to repaint my entire office and yanked a remote holder off the wall that was held on by some sort of 3m tape, took a paint hole out of the wall. I’ve been doing lots of painting and drywall work lately so it was about what I expected from the old owners. Anyways a little pull here, a little pull there, a scraper under here, a scraper under there, and 15 min later my walls that needed fresh paint are now devoid of old paint. It definitely took me far less time to tear down all this shit than it took the last guy to put it up.

I don’t really know where to go from here, just did not seem like painting over paint that was already poorly bonded to the wall was not the right idea. Now what do I do? Prime? Seal? Paint? Mud? All? The stuff came off with 0 resistance so it left basiaclly nothing behind on the wall like torn paper or anything like that. Thanks again and just as a reminder, no i am not a drug addict who peeled all the paint off their walls on whim.

Where to mount interior rear dash cam?

Bought this wolf box dash cam awhile ago (I’m thinking I actually have an older model, this is just what I could find on Amazon) but never got around to installing the rear camera because I have the tech package and didn’t see much use for it at the time. Have had the front camera for about a year.

Have now lived in Florida long enough to realize that if you own a vehicle that you care about, it would be in your best interest to have as many cameras on it as possible for the inevitable day some insane person crashes into my vehicle. Got everything wired up to the fuse box just fine, but I can’t figure out how to install this on the rear camera in on interior of my 23 Colorado. The base has screws and comes off, but you can really only rotate it at maybe 45 degrees tops, and with the cabin interior being cloth, not much to grab onto there either. Ideally would like to get it as high as possible and hopefully on/against the middle window area. Anyone have any tips? Advice?

Hey yall, just got my business off the ground and have been starting up accounts at supply houses, Ferguson, fastenal, Lowe’s, and have been debating on Home Depot but am not sure of the pro/cons yet. Can anyone tell me if there are any other additional benefits to having a pro account other than being able to leave your carts wherever the hell you feel like it?
