Free Trial with New Number

New to US Mobile, trying to switch from TMobile. I put myself in a predicament due to my cheapness and unpreparedness. I'll try to keep it brief.

I am trying to port 3 numbers over to US Mobile, and I bought 3 annual lines during the recent sale (impulse purchase at the last couple of hours because the support people told me i could get a refund if i dont activate the lines). So I am waiting to activate them until i can try out the service and make sure it works in my area. So i want to do the free trial and it says it needs to be an existing number, but if i activate the free trial on my number, i wont get the deal i purchased because that needs to be on a number not with US Mobile yet.

So I'm currently considering 3 options:

  1. try to get a new number for free somehow to do the free trial (just started looking at Google Voice and TextNow). alternatively sign up for Xfinity phone service that keeps bugging me about getting a new line for free for a year.

  2. do the free trial on my phone number and forgo the discount on one of the lines.

i guess in the end im wondering if others have had to jump through hoops like this and how they did it. and if my idea of getting a free new number would actually work and how i could go about it.

1991 Club Cart Upgrade Opinions and Help

I recently bought a 1991 Electric Club Cart with no prior knowledge of golf carts. I knew it needed new batteries and the body is a little worn for being over 30, but I thought I could just slap some batteries in it and get it going.

It's an old A-Frame with the V-Glide and resistor coils. I tested the motor, coils, and solenoid with a multilmeter and all seems good except the solenoid. Haven't tested the V-Glide, but haven't really looked into how. I'm currently focused on taking things apart and cleaning contacts since it was all pretty rusty - though the aluminum frame is in decent shape.

I did a little research and going lithium seems to be the way to go. However, the more I look into it, that might mean a complete overhaul since the coils apparently can't handle a lithium battery and would need to be replaced with a solid state controller. Which is fine, but that seems like quite a bit of money on top of a new lithium battery plus what I already paid for the cart. So at that point would it make more sense to just get a newer cart? The alternative would be to get it running with some Costco lead acid batteries and sell it as is and use that money to get a newer cart.

At the end of all that, I guess what I'm looking for are opinions on what I should do, how much it would cost to do things right, next steps, or any other advice.

[Gamecube] Optical Drive Recap

I recently bought a 2nd hand GameCube that spun discs but couldn't read them. The solution I got from researching was to recap the optical drive. I had never done it before and I kept hearing it's pretty tough but I got a good deal on the system and figured I'd just go for it. Unfortunately, I didn't buy a specific GameCube cap kit and the capacitors I bought didn't include the small 47uF (of which there are 5 on the board). I heard people have success just replacing 1 or 2 so I went ahead and replaced all the bigger ones. Note that the

47uF 6v one I used a 47uF 10v one because that's the closest I had but the physical size was a tad bigger so I did my best to make it fit and I believe it's making contact. You will also notice that some of them aren't perfectly flat against the board but I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work but got scared I would burn the board. They are still connected though, I believe.

So I put it all back together and now it won't even spin. I'm concerned I burned a trace or something but I'm hoping it's something I can easily fix, but I'm here because I need y'alls experienced eyes to help diagnose it for me.
