NVME drive failure - out of warranty options

Hi guys, I have a Aurora R15 with a i13900 & 4090 in it, I’ve been suffering a ton of BSODs and was really concerned my Ram was going adios, I went into the BIOS and it detected my NVME drive has issues.

My PC is about 3 years old or so and the premium warranty has expired, I spoke to Dell and they offered if I send it to them on the “Express” repair, that they will replace the NVME drive for $270 including labor.

Has anyone used the repair service? My main concern is shipping this big bad Larry to Texas and back, when it came the whole PC was filled with expanding foam and I do not have that anymore.

I looked at the “fix it yourself option” and the 1tb drives are $640 on dells website.

Would any regular 1tb drive work with this?

What age to start them

I’ve got a 17 week old French Brittany, who has more energy than I know what to do with.

He’s from a hunting breeder; I intend to hunt with him for grouse / pheasant and if it’s warm(ish) have him retrieve ducks.

So far I’m just letting him be a puppy, recently I’ve been spending time on some property I have access to and just letting him run through the fields and woods and getting him ( and me ) more comfortable being off leash, trying to see how far he will wander etc.

The kennel he came from introduced them to quail as puppies so I know he has met birds and has a prey drive, unfortunately at the moment his prey drive is focused on chasing butterflies in the meadows like a Disney princess.

I have a garmin GPS collar that is too big for him when he’s bigger but right now it’s more just following him in the woods where I know birds are ( orchard surrounded by aspen & birch with a ton of oak trees )

Should I just keep doing this until he starts stumbling onto them and figures out their scent?

I’d love to take him hunting this October for grouse but I don’t see him making huge advancements in next 2 months.

Looking to get some input on when should I bring him to a hunting kennel, gun training etc.

I hunt quite a bit but have never had a bird dog so I don’t know if I feel comfortable acclimating him to loud bangs. He’s not scared of the vacuum or lawn mower, never really had much reaction when my neighbor set off fireworks, he will bark at thunder when it first happens but then settles down.

Thank you for any advice!

Do it all - Bass & Inshore

I’ve had a few posts going down the rabbit hole on rods, I am about to order a Shimano expride ML to pair with my Sedona spinning reel,

I am now looking at possibly purchasing a second expride in medium to pair with a bait caster reel for bass & inshore fishing.

I have a 9’ Penn Fierce IV MH combo for fishing from surf or off jetties.

Looking for reel suggestions - I do not have a bait caster to compare it too but was considering a penn low profile bait caster in right side reel.

Would this combination be good for targeted smaller saltwater species in New England (mackerel/trout/flounder etc)?

I was also considering a Black Hole Rods company Tarantula but the price is 2x the expride, although they do pride themselves on being able to lift a Chevy truck out of a lake on an ultra light based on their videos about rod strength.

I’d be interested in reel selection and also rod alternatives if there’s one I need to look at.

I’d like a reel that’s sub $300

Spinning rod Sub $200

Hi guys, I am currently returning my Bass Pro Micro Lite 6’6 medium light rod as after 3 outings 2 eyes have come out and the cork on the reel fastener has completely come unglued and is just floating up and down the handle, the rod handled really well and I definitely caught bass!

Fish I’m going after - Bass, Pickerel, Walleye, MAYBE lake trout, regular trout also.

For bass fishing I’m using a Texas rig or drop shot 99% of time, but I want something which can throw some light lures for when I go on my local trout river (Battenkill)

Would like 7’0 preferably to be able to cast a little further, 2 piece is basically mandatory.

My rod cost $69 I believe, it’s being paired with a Shimano Sedona FJ, 15# braids and Fluoro leaders between 6-10# depending what I’m doing.

Ideally this could be purchased at bass pro shop, I’ve heard a lot about Daiwa XT but it appears only available in medium from BPS.

I appreciate any recommendations, I’d like to keep this under $150 but I will stretch to $200 if there’s a convincing argument to be made!

New Hampshire coast fishing

Hi everyone, I just started fishing realistically about a week ago after getting a pole / reel.

I’ll be going to Hampton beach & Maine multiple times this summer, I have a 6’6” medium light rod with a 2500 reel w/ 15# braid and whatever leader, normally 10# fluoro for bass.

My question - can I fish off a pier with this setup, should I rent a rod & reel and throw some chub on it?

I’d ideally like to catch a striper or possibly flounder, I’m not sure what fish are farting around piers though, I believe this place is pretty hot with stripers but I don’t really know about salt water fishing, or really any fishing - I can string up a Texas rig with senkos and catch largemouth so I’m basically pro.

If I go for renting what do I need, if I wanted to buy what do I need that’s CHEAP - I may go to the beach 3 times a year

I’m scared of Rigs, help! Help with Rigs & Bait & Lures

I made another post about rod & reel questions which I now have in my possession, I am now looking at baits, lures, rigs, jigs.

Rigs are kind of intimidating because there’s like 5000 of them, my understanding is a rig is just a leader attached to a swivel with a certain weight setup (either on leader, or on main line above leader)

And you bait the hook a certain way to make it less likely to snag.

Is this an accurate interpretation of rigs? If I am fishing on large slow moving river (the Connecticut for example) what would the best rig be for going after trout or most likely bass at this location, it’s from a shore, near a bridge & dock.

I’m looking for help with what baits I need along as maybe some lures for bass & trout.

My newly acquired setup is Micro Lite 6’6” Med-Light with shimano sedona, 15# braid and 6# mono filament for a leader.

I can tie a unity knot and that’s about it so if it requires something besides that, please consider my feelings of inadequacy when it comes to other knots!

Apparently I cannot fish with lead weights that are less than 1 oz in the CT river so if there’s some good brand weights I can use in these jigs or in general please let me know!

12ga O/U recommendations

Hi guys, I live in VT with a lot of Partridge/Pheasant/Duck/Geese & Turkey around me, I also have a French Brittany puppy who will be starting bird training soon.

My favorite shotgun I have is an Ithaca 20ga from the 60s, I love shooting over unders.

I am hoping for some suggestions on a budget conscious but quality 12ga O/U.

I saw a Tri Star TT15 Trap model which looked like it could be out of a video game, I’d never heard of this brand but do like the look of the non-trap TT15 models.

Also have been looking at the CZ redhead & Weatherby Orion, I’d like to spend $800-$1300 max on this shotgun.

3” or 3.5” shell capacity, ejectors are kind of mandatory as my arthritis in my fingers gets awful in the cold.

I’d also like to shoot clays with it occasionally - I like the classic O/U look so would not prefer all camo or something

Total beginner - looking for spinning combo & lure/bait/line

I live in Vermont on the battenkill, so I will be fishing for trout mainly, also have a canoe so I’d like to go after bass.

I am complete beginner, I have not fished really since I was 8-9 with my grandfather so, 30 years.

Just looking to pickup an activity to do with my kids and also float around on a lake with my dog.

I’d like to keep rod & reel to $150 max, ideally $100.

I also have no idea what kind of bait / lures to look at getting or even fishing line.

Nearest bass pro shops is 2:30 from me, I’ll most likely order online. Would prefer a 2 piece as I have a jeep wrangler and don’t want to jam a rod in there diagonally.

Thank you for any suggestions!

Career move - Producer to E&S

Hi guys, I’ve been a producer for 3 years at an independent that was just acquired by a top 10 brokerage, so far everything is really great it’s not about culture.

Prior to insurance I had 20+ years in hospitality, foodservice and F&B management. I gravitated to this as a producer as it’s very comfortable territory, what I have discovered is the “hospitality” in insurance is primarily multi unit, hotels etc.

As I’ve met and learned more about lines of coverage I’ve kind of become the tricky restaurant guy, their liquors a little high, they have live music etc.

I’m considering attempting the move into E&S brokering for Liquor and other hospitality centric lines, I love problem solving and enjoy the puzzle aspect of new placements.

I am hoping someone in here can offer some insight into this, I also like the aspect of these specific lines as they never really soften, I doubt many standard carriers even in a softening market will start writing a ton of liquor and concert venues.
