Proton VPN on OpenBSD

Been trying to use a Wireguard conf built off my Proton VPN account on a ThinkPad x61s using OpenBSD. Their conf is simple, and easily configured from my Proton VPN account web dashboard once logged in; but with PF in the mix I’m having issues keeping connections alive. Anyone have experience with this?

OpenBSD on the x61s.

Here we go…opting for an XFCE desktop for now. Just 4GB RAM. Install ‘79 walked me through the setup pretty easily. Only issue was a checksum I didn’t bother with, so we had to chase a signature from a mirror.

What are some first things to do with a slim system like this?

X61S boot to Bios?

Power up question: I picked this out of the recycler bin. Has working battery and power adapter, and status lights indicate DC to the unit. But it will not power up; no fan sounds or relays clicking. I cleaned the power button best I could with deOxit. No HD—but I expected it to boot to BIOS at least. Or does it really need an HD in the caddy to boot?

Any suggestions?

Wildland Fire Frequencies?

Are there default or standardized frequencies for wildland fire fighting teams? Was wondering how the Canadian fires situation could be monitored, as we have family up north.

Inferno is The End of Time

I’ve been reading (and trying to understand!) Julian Barbour’s brilliant book on Time, and whether Time is even real.

He originated “Platonia,” which he describes as every possible arrangement of everything in the universe, every position of every particle, every configuration of every star and atom, as a single point on an infinite map. Each point on this map is a complete frozen snapshot: the entire universe, in one instant, captured whole. What we experience as Time is just the slight differences between the positions of those things in Platonia.

And a lot of Inferno references Barbour’s thesis; The “Arena” concept, the idea of Now echoed in “Somewhere Right Now in the Future,” “Deep Time” and more.

Anyone spent time (see what I did there?) with this book? It’s mind blowing.

Does it Hit Different Every Time?

I think this album reveals itself across different sound stages. None of my earphones are very high end, and that’s OK. But each platform delivers a different experience; depending on the speaker I hear different mixes, and some effects have less or more presence over others. I find I can change the mood by changing the speaker.

What are you listening through?

Tomorrow's Inferno

Having drank deeply of the latest release, I auditioned TH for the first time in a while, and felt its immediate connection to the current project. Many of these tracks live beautifully alongside the newest, and vice versa. “Split Your Infinitives,” “Nothing is Real,” and “Come to Dust” sketch the same beautiful/dreadful melancholy and re-remembered memory of the new work. Soft sighs, ragged signals and incoherent voices populate both albums.

I find it remarkable the brothers can stay true to form stylistically over the decades while pushing the narrative forward. And especially now, as INFERNO feels truly of-our-times.

No Refresh, US?

I got an email from DJI stating I could extend Care Refresh on my M4P, which is coming on 1 year old. The link took me to the Store, and after logging in to my Account, I get the "not available in your country/region" message. I'm a US Part 107 flyer. Any ideas?
