What are my realistic chances for upcoming drives and how do I prep?

For context I am in old IIT CSE and having cgpa ~6.5, having no presentable skills to show and currently doing nothing this summer (not doing research intern etc). Probably I won't get an intern on campus.
Please give some real advice on what can be done in this dead state, highly appreciated

Top tech school with 6.5 CGPA and no skills. Switch to govt job(india)?

Hey everyone,

I am currently finishing up my 4th semester (sophomore year) majoring in Computer Science at an Old IIT (top-tier engineering institute in India).

Right now I have a 6.5 CGPA and our on-campus internship season is about to start very shortly. The bitter truth is I have literally zero relevant skills right now. No coding, no projects, nothing. With this terrible CGPA and a completely blank resume, I know for a fact that I stand no chance on campus. No company will even shortlist me.

I am just looking for any way out. Because of the extreme stress, I am thinking to just give up on tech entirely and start preparing for govt job exams. I just want to survive at this point. My logic is that at least with a government job, I will get food on table and some security, even if my IIT CS degree goes completely down the drain.

I feel helpless in this state and backed into a corner where I can't see any light. Please give me some honest advice

  • Is it a bad move to abandon an Old IIT CS trajectory for govt jobs at this stage?
  • Can a 6.5 CGPA be salvaged for off-campus tech placements later on, or is it too low to clear corporate cutoffs?
  • If I decide to stick with tech and build my skills from scratch starting today, how should I utilize the next few months to catch up?

Would appreciate some honest perspectives and a reality check on this. Thanks.

TL;DR: 4th sem CS student at an Old IIT with a 6.5 CGPA and no coding skills. Unlikely to get an on-campus internship, so considering pivoting to govt job preparation for job security. Looking for advice on whether to switch or how to rebuild a tech profile off-campus.

Advice regarding major career/field re-route.

Hello guys so I am anticipating <6.5 cpi at end of this sem (my 4th sem). Intern season will shortly start and I have no skills till now. Mp I won't get an intern on campus and now I am considering that I will probably attempt Bank PO. I am in cs branch but now that hardly matters.

Atleast with bank job I will get food on table.

Family is strictly against it as they are saying if I had to do this finally then why did i get into old IIT CS? I tried explaining but no avail.

I wanted to ask some people's opinions here to consider this option as I have no other option left now(or maybe left but I cannot see it with current state of mind).
Thank you.
