4 paladin monoclass honor run - whats your take and ideas?
Im running 4 paladins monoclass now. Just hit lvl4. My oaths are oathbreaker (main party face), ancients, vengeance and crown.
So far quite fun, waiting for lvl5 power spikes, but heals and smites good.
How would you build that party? What roles and characters would you pick?
I did my ancients paladin sharpshooter with dex and going with ensaring strike and some supports rather than smites (even tho can smite perfectly well if needed).
I plan oathbreaker as bit of an summoner. Idk if it is gonna work :) Not sure about future of oathbreaker without multiclass. As missing hexblade or lock might impact it.
The vengeance and crown are also bit in a void now. For vengeance I do have karlach and was planning to focus bit more on spell smites. For crown I went less on charisma rn and planning just pure smites or spells without chr dependency.

Recently I saw a post where half of a planet was missing and people said they would enjoy such a world. And I knew how to make one, so it is done.
This is not a mod, but rather a world, where each planet and moon is missing half of it. The voxels are gone :) There is still a vegetation on the top of it (didnt bother to remove that). Despite voxels missing, the performance should be as good as any fresh game. The world comes with no save/backup, but stations are already generated. If you want different stations, copy .vx2 files from this world to a different one.
Have fun :)
Can you help me solve my gemling tankiness?
I'm a veteran player with 2k hours played. I play Gemling (91) on SSF and I just die too much and I don't know what to do. Gear is limited.
(bit missleading, cause I have 2k life+1k ES)
- I die a lot, very often in ritual, which prevents me to finish it, but also on bosses and some harder juiced mechanics
- I'm limited on items, but I can improve stuff, collecting vile robes, evasion chests, sekhema boots, evasion and ES gloves and ES helmets, also got 3 viper helmets with 4 or fewer enemies
- I wan't to swap to different skill than grenades, but feel bit stuck on gear to do that and also don't really know which skill I should go for. I really wanted to play galvanic shards, but being unable to drop rathas assault...
- I was trying to find a way to make gemling much more tanky, but just can't figure out the way
- I have quite insane gear for some minion builds, but don't want to play those haha
Deep analysis of Minion damage and flat added damage & correct PoB2 calculation
TLDR:
- Minions has 50% increased damage bonus
- Various minions has damage modifier of skills that are not listed anywhere (hound 125% attack damage, sniper 115% attack damage)
- Specters and tamed beasts has more damage hidden modifier dependent on skill gem, starting at 37% at gem skill7 and going up to 339% gem skill30
- Flat damage added is possibly effective on some builds such as specific spectres, not ridiculous skill level builds, and possibly new tamed beast spirit walker
---
I talked to a friend of mine and he said he wants to play spirit walker with high damage weapon and add a lot of damage to his minions. I said that I don't think it adds that much damage. He pulled out some numbers... so I asked:
Are we sure this is correct?
And here we are poking the GGG bear again :P
I wanted to test how some added flat damage works, so I pulled out some of my older characters, reset the tree and started to read the info and I just could not figure the math out for a while. In the screenshot there is a comparsion of gargantuan wasp and wolf pack with 0%, 200% and 300% minion damage witch I tested with scepter adding 1-41 lightning damage.
I tested also phys scepter and other minions such as various levels of skeletal sniper, infernal hound, 4 other specters and quadrilla tamed beast.
Lets just jump to some results - all minions seems to have hidden +50% increase minion damage bonus
This was bashing me for a while, but I have concluded that all minion has indeed this +50% increase minion damage bonus.
What does it mean? There are some initial diminishing returns from the get go.
When you do fresh start and has 0% minion damage bonus, you start picking nodes on the tree and get +100% minion damage bonus, then your damage is not in fact doubled. Because you have already started with that 50% bonus, which is additive, so we are comparing 1,5 and 2,5 damage, which is 66,7% total increase. Don't get me wrong, you should certainly still get minion damage increases, it is just thing to know if your math doesn't checks out.
Generic undead minions, infernal hound and wolfpack has different attack damage modifier, that are unlisted
So you know how different player skills do have different damage modifiers, such as lvl18 hammer of the gods has 1431% attack damage. Minions has that too.
And you probably know that, it is just a thing to repeat. Why is this interesting, because these numbers are not written anywhere (or at least I'm not aware of it).
Such as skeletal sniper has apparently uses attack with 115% attack damage, but infernal hound has 125% attack damage.
What is quite interesting is that wolf from wolf pack has only 70% attack damage (0,7 multiplier).
For specters and tamed beasts, they also have attack damage modifer, but that is more complex, because there is another bonus I did not manage to calculate. I will talk about next.
Specters and tamed beasts are... different, has hidden more damage modifier based on the skill gem level
First thing first, let me help you to identify stats for your specter. Lets say you will catch the gargantuan wasp.
- open the poedb and find gargantuan wasp there
- then identify what level of your specter gem is, lets say 30, then you need to open table for specter gem and find out it would create a minion level 60 (thats what table says)
- you go back to poedb gargantuan wasp and fill in minion level 60, which will yield you some different stats, such as Life: 9668 or Base Damage of the skill: 290—435
So is 290—435 Wasp base damage? Yes it seems to be. And if you add any flat bonus damage to your minions, it will be added to these values. So specters and beasts indeed has quite low base damage, thus adding flat damage seems to be ok.
What scales them?! Specters and Tamed beasts has another more damage multiplier, that is calculated based on the skill gem level. It was mentioned previously in some GGG videos, but I forgot about it and never knew how high that bonus actually is. Well, very high. This value is hidden and not listed anywhere. My calculation says that at skill gem lvl7 the damage got multiplied by 1,37 (37% more), and at skill gem lvl 30, the damage was multiplied by 4,39 (339% more). While average seems to be 13% more per gem level, but the difference between 29 and 30 was 17%, so I assume it scales with less diminishing returns.
This might be composition of two numbers, skill damage and more damage, but I was not able to separate them. Each specter I tested had the same bonus at the same level.
PoB2 can't calculate NONE of this and how can you fix that
While PoB seems to get base damage numbers right. Base damage of specters I found was correct there, but base damage of infernal hound not. PoB doesnt add base damage of the skill. And it doesn't add the hidden 50% minion increased damage mod. And it doesn't add Specter specific more damage, but it adds flat 25% more damage for specters instead.
So I wanted to configurate gargantuan wasp level23, so in my PoB config I added
50% increased minion damage # hidden minion bonus
Minions deal 20% less damage # removes 25% specter flat buff added by POB
Minions deal 225% more damage # specter gem 23 bonus
And the result was, elemental damage of my PoB matches the info in game. Phys damage is within 0,5% delta. Game says 2573 DPS, PoB says 2583 DPS.
You would need to do some other modifications for different minions, such as for snipers, wolves or infernal hound include attack damage of the skill, but not include specter specific damage.
Conclusion on flat damage and minions
Cheap specters could get good bonus damage from flat added damage, but levels of skill seems very efficient.
The 60% bonus from your main hand weapon on your tamed beast should have significant impact, might double the damage of the tamed beast, which doesn't imply the build will work, just that adding flat damage from weapon is effective on that minion.
Minions with super high skill level, such as skeletal snipers or pounce wolves do not benefit much from flat bonus damage, since their base damage is pretty big from the level already.
On the other hand, minions like wolves from wolf pack, where you can't scale the gem that high might get pretty decent bonus from the flat added damage.
