Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is a complete disappointment

TL;DR: The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro doesn’t offer anything to justify its price. Its health tracking lags behind even much older models. Despite being more expensive than Samsung or Fitbit trackers, it produces inaccurate readings and trends.

As someone who’s obsessed with fitness trackers and wearables and constantly keeps an eye on the market, I used to use the Huawei Watch Fit 2. The heart rate sensor was excellent and the stress tracking worked incredibly accurately. So far, I’ve used the Fitbit Charge 6, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 and the Huawei Watch Fit 2. I sold the Galaxy Watch 8 because of its shortcomings with heart rate monitoring and wanted to buy a Huawei, as my experience with the Fit 2 had been brilliant and I had complete faith in the brand, but...

After this product, I started to hate Huawei. WHERE THE HELL DID THE CALIBRATION FOR STRESS TRACKING GO? The watch never once detected high stress levels. After binge eating, during a nervous breakdown, whilst ill – in truly stressful, terrifying situations where I was drenched in sweat – the stress level was consistently between ‘normal’ and ‘mild’ in every single instance. Are you kidding , Huawei? Even though I’m not a fan of the Galaxy Watch 8’s heart rate monitoring, but it would still pick up on even the slightest moment of stress and send an alert. They removed stress monitoring because of emotional welness feature but is that accurate? Totally wrong and rubbish!

TRUSLEEP HAS BEEN UPDATES FOR YEARS , BUT THE RESULTS ARE STILL TERRIBLE. Trusleep 5.0, which is claimed to provide better sleep analysis, has only been added to the Watch Fit 5 series. They aren’t rolling out the software update to older Fit models or GT models. What do you think of the accuracy of Trusleep 5.0, which seems so highly touted? IT’S AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER. It’s even worse than the cheapest fitness trackers from Samsung, Amazfit and Fitbit. Google improves the accuracy of its sleep tracking almost every month through software updates alone, rolling these out to older-generation Fitbit and Google trackers. Even Fitbit’s $100 products track your sleep accurately with a %75–80  correlation compared to medical devices. Huawei’s sleep stage graphs are completely at odds with Fitbit’s. The sleep tracking is rubbish. The breathing awareness isn’t accurate either. When I was ill, both my nostrils were completely blocked all night, and I was experiencing micro-awakenings throughout the night due to difficulty breathing. When I checked the sleep breathing awareness the next morning, it said everything was normal. Yet Fitbit had immediately shown a sudden drop in SpO2.

As for the heart rate, it’s not great. Instead of detecting sudden spikes, it simply lags behind and ignores them. Whilst lying in bed, I suddenly sat up to try and raise my heart rate. Whilst my heart rate shot up from 60 bpm to 120 bpm straight away, the Huawei showed 70–80 bpm and then 110 bpm for about 20 seconds. It isn’t even as good as the Fitbit Charge 6 at capturing sharp peaks. It has better heart rate tracking than the Samsung GW8. But it’s weaker at detecting instantaneous peaks than a $100 Fitbit. A complete let-down.

Finally, I’d like to mention HRV. HRV isn’t measured continuously. It’s measured roughly every half an hour. The feature is completely unnecessary because it never shows daily or weekly trends. In other words, even if they were to collect the raw data, there’s no algorithm or logic to analyse it. It’s just a feature that’s been tacked on. My HRV was 25 ms 30 minutes ago, but now it’s showing 110. And I feel exactly the same. Then it drops to 35 ms. Is my body ready for strenuous activity or not? It’s just a confusing, unnecessary feature.

All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone. I reckon those calling this watch an ‘Apple Watch killer’ are just promoting it for money. The only thing it has over the Apple Watch is battery life. That’s it. I never thought the sensors and readings would be worse than those of the Fit 2 and GT 3 series from years ago, but they are.

I made this in 2.5 hours!

Productivity is a really interesting thing. If I had just been mindlessly scrolling on my phone, none of this would have happened.

A Comparison of the GW8 and the New Google’s Sleep Algorithms. They’re Almost Identical! My Brief Review of the GW8

Hello. I bought my first WearOS smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 8, three days ago.

For the past two days, I’ve been wearing both the Fitbit Charge 6 (updated to new sleep algorithm by Google) and the Galaxy Watch 8 while sleeping at night. For the past two days, they’ve been giving me almost the same sleep stages.

I was really surprised by how accurate this was. The qualified scientist is right about both sleep tracking.

Sleep scores:

Charge 6: 67, GW8:70

Charge 6: 88, GW8: 87

Readiness vs Energy score:

Charge 6: 67, GW8: 58

Charge 6: 68, GW8: 75

One feature where the Galaxy Watch 8 falls short compared to Fitbit/Google is its inability to accurately track peak heart rates and provide precise readings. It’s more like an average heart rate. If your heart rate fluctuates steadily between light and moderate levels during exercise, the watch is very accurate. But during intense activities like HIIT or weight training, when there are sudden, small fluctuations, Huawei, Google, and Apple perform much better. When I used the Huawei Watch Fit 2, I was amazed at how well it captured those instantaneous peaks. Although I miss the HWF2’s heart rate tracking, the Galaxy Watch 8’s stress tracking is just as incredibly accurate for me.

This way, I get tracking similar to both Huawei and Google/Fitbit, but with the quality of Wear OS and Samsung. I’m satisfied for now.

New Pixel Watch 3 connects over Bluetooth but the app always fails to pair — same on two phones. Defective?

Brand-new Pixel Watch 3 (sealed, from Amazon.de). In the Google Pixel Watch app the watch is detected, a PIN appears, the pairing animation starts… then "Couldn't pair / Can't connect — factory reset and set up again." Every single time.

The weird part: the moment the app fails, my phone's Bluetooth shows the watch as connected ("connected for calls") and even reads its battery percentage. So Bluetooth works fine — it's the Wear OS setup that never completes.

Tried: multiple watch factory resets (incl. fastboot/recovery), reinstalled the app, cleared Play Services data, all permissions allowed, Play system update current, different Google account, network reset, safe mode, Wi-Fi on/off, on charger right next to phone, long waits.

Key test: tried it on a second phone (Galaxy A54, older un-updated One UI) — exact same failure. Bluetooth connects, the app never finishes setup.

Since it fails identically on two different phones/OS versions, I think the watch itself is faulty. Has anyone seen this exact "Bluetooth connects but app setup always fails" issue on a new Pixel Watch 3? Anything left to try before I return it?

I got tired of fighting to-do apps with my ADHD, so I built one around time blindness

I've always bounced off traditional to-do apps — they felt like extra work instead of help. So I started building a planner for my ADHD that removes as much friction as possible.

A few things in the video that mattered most to me:

- Creating tasks by just tapping and dragging directly into the day view

- Starting with a tiny anchor — 30 seconds, 1 or 2 minutes — to get over the activation hump

- Splitting tasks in half so they feel less daunting

- Comparing estimated vs actual duration after a task to chip away at time blindness

- Surfacing forgotten or missed tasks with a single tap

- A widget showing what percentage of the day has passed, based on your wake-up time

and estimated bedtime

- Data pages that actually matter: a time-blindness graph, productivity peaks based on your circadian rhythm, and more

I also didn't want the day to feel sterile, so the interface shifts with morning/evening sky colors as the day moves.

It's almost done — I've got a working build I'm testing on myself for a few days before polishing the last details.

Would love feedback on what feels useful, confusing, or unnecessary.
