Abstract from the paper: "The unknown parent is likely not part of the Lophophora genus due to the greater than
10% difference in average gene similarity with the small compartment. It can also be ruled out
that the second parent is E. pachanoi given the lack of similar genes (see Appendix 4). There are
a few theories of what the other parental plant could be, such as cacti found growing near L.
williamsii including but not limited to Ariocarpus spp., Turbinocarpus spp., and Mammiliaria
spp due to their proximity to wild peyote button sites (Niesel, 2018). L. williamsii have been
shown to successfully crossbreed with the latter two genus in a greenhouse setting but there is
limited evidence of wild hybridization (Schmidt, 1969)."
Definitely the best loph for this so far for me. Easy rooters, forgiving little mistake here and there...
Hi, I am germinating Ariocarpuses and Lophophoras and Ortegocactuses in the same conditions, Heat mats are on 26 degrees, but the temperature is bit lower over the night (not under 20 Celsiuses. Lophs and Ortegos are germinating perfectly, but have very few arios out so far. I have some last year experience, and they seedlings didn't like light too much. I think, that I should be just little more patient, but maybe is time for panic! Is there anything wrong please?
I haven't add calcium supplement this time, do you think, their young bones will survive first few months without? Thanks Koehreses for extra Ortegos, appreciate that (and for extra arios too, if there are any, haven't count them :D ).
