Considering a used Orbea Oiz M20 TR (2021–2022) — Size M for 170 cm & Carbon vs. Mint condition trade-off?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a used Orbea Oiz M20 TR (2021–2022) and would love to get some feedback from people who have owned or ridden this bike.

  1. Overall Experience & Recommendations**:** How has your experience been with the Oiz TR (120mm)? How does it perform on climbs, punchy XC sections, and flowy trails? Any known issues or long-term maintenance caveats I should be aware of (e.g., the UFO flex-stay rear triangle or internal cable routing)?
  2. Sizing Check: I am 170 cm tall (~5'7"). According to Orbea's chart, I fall right in the range for Medium. For those around my height riding an Oiz, how does Medium feel? Does the cockpit feel comfortable, or would you recommend any adjustments (like stem length)?
  3. Which option is better?
    • Option A: 2022 model. Upgraded with Bontrager Carbon Wheels, a carbon crankset, and a power meter. However, it has some visible cosmetic paint scratches on the top tube and fork crown (purely cosmetic/paint layer, no structural carbon cracks).
    • Option B: 2021 model. In mint/clean cosmetic condition, but comes entirely stock with aluminum DT Swiss X1900 wheels.

Both are in a similar price bracket. Would you prioritize the upgraded carbon wheelset/power meter despite the paint scratches, or go for the cleaner, scratch-free stock bike?

My riding mainly consists of fire roads, light XC, and doubletracks, with no major jumps or aggressive drops.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a used Orbea Oiz M20 TR (2021–2022) and would love to get some feedback from people who have owned or ridden this bike!

Riding Style: My riding mainly consists of fire roads, light XC, and doubletracks, with no major jumps or aggressive drops.

  1. Overall Experience & Recommendations: How has your experience been with the Oiz TR (120mm)? How does it perform on climbs, long endurance rides, and fast gravel/dirt roads? Any known issues or long-term maintenance caveats I should be aware of (e.g., the UFO flex-stay rear triangle or internal cable routing)?
  2. Sizing Check: I am 170 cm tall (~5'7"). According to Orbea's chart, I fall right in the range for Medium. For those around my height riding an Oiz, how does Medium feel? Does the cockpit feel comfortable, or would you recommend any adjustments (like stem length)?
  3. Help Me Choose Between Two Options:
    • Option A: 2022 model. Upgraded with Bontrager Carbon Wheels, a carbon crankset, and a power meter. However, it has some visible cosmetic paint scratches on the top tube and fork crown (purely cosmetic, no structural carbon cracks).
    • Option B: 2021 model. In mint/clean cosmetic condition, but comes entirely stock with aluminum DT Swiss X1900 wheels.

Both are in a similar price bracket. Given my riding style, would you prioritize the upgraded carbon wheelset/power meter despite the paint scratches, or go for the cleaner, scratch-free stock bike?

Are there any known issues with these models?

Upgrading from Giant Anthem X 2015 29er

I really enjoyed riding my used Anthem for the lasr 6 years
Instead of investing in fixing them, I really feel ready to go for something else
within my budget
used Trek supercaliber gen1 2023

used Orbea oiz 2022 m20 tr

Maybe Specialized Epic S-Works 2019

New Specialized Chisel FS base

will all of these feel like a reasonable choice coming from the Anthem?
or will It feel too stiff?
If I'll go for a new trail bike like Marin Rift zone or Trek Ex8 Ghost Kato Fs

Scott Spark 950 or maybe Ghost Kato Fs Universal

Came across an appealing deal for a Scott Spark 950 2025(and even a better deal for the 960). I wonder how reliable is the hidden rear shock and the twin lock in the long run.. Read a few threads here from 2022 and on, some praised and some complained about noisy components.

Is this model in 2025 is better in these aspects?
how about the Ghost Kato FS Universal in comparison the the 950?
