Also, props to yokai watch for selecting a non bald eagle character as their US spoof, opting for a pelican instead. (Even if its possibly solely because American and Pelican sound a like) I also like how goofy he looks with his exaggerated beak, half asleep eyes and the sheer gaudiness of his fit.

Edit: Like what some of the comments said, theres also proof that he's a bit of a LARPer: he wasn't reclassified as the USA themed 'Merican Yo-kai in yo-kai watch 3, and in the spin-off game Blasters, he was hunted down by tertiary series mascot Usapyon (who is one of these 'Merican Yo-kai) for being a fake. His flavor text in 3 also reads: "He studied in BBQ and tries to pretend that he grew up there. His terrible accent makes it very obvious that he did not."

I could talk about all of the Devils, but I think I'll just stick with the OG who started it all.

Now at first glance, it doesn't scream "devil". No horns, no pointed tail, no pitchfork. So why is it called that? Well, it sure looks kind of demonic by being so odd looking. Its a cyclops with a black void for an eye socket and a red pupil/sclerae, with no nose, no mouth, nothing that looks human at all. Its a monster! (Doesn't help that the pupil invokes the "red eyes are evil" trope, which is used by characters like Albedo (Ben 10) and the g1 cartoon decepticons)

Sure it has human like hands with fingers and feet not unlike Mega Man himself or the robots he fights, but that single eye, combined with its monotone yellow color scheme, really makes it look extremely weird looking. Not even the chibi artstyle of mega man powered up (image 3) can offset the sheer uncanniness of the Yellow Devil.

Not to mention, its boss fight can be characterised as the work of the devil for how boring and tedious it is: blobs fly in, eye opens for a bit to blast mega man, eye closes, blobs fly across the room to reform on other side, repeat. Oh and to even damage this thing, you have to hit the eye while its open too.

For apparently what was Dr. Wily's first attempt at a combat robot before 2's 8 Robot Masters, it does the job of being both an annoying boss and a creepy one. Its at least more memorable than like, CWU-O1P, and as such, it has many offshoots of its look that plague the entire classic timeline.

If you look at the fairy type, lots of its pokémon are of the cutesy, girly variety, all varying degrees of "Awww..." or at least aesthetically pleasing.

Grimmsnarl is not one of them. This Dark/Fairy dual type crossbreed of ogres, trolls and goblins has sharp and narrow eyes, sharp fangs dangling from its upper jaw, and sharp claws for toes, and its almost always sneering. And yet that's precisely why its a good design - it breaks the mold one of its types sets.

Grimmsnarl also takes a note from Bayonettas book and integrates lots of hair into its appearance. The usage of hair on it design makes it extremely strong and tough looking, befitting its category as "Bulk Up" Pokemon and its base 120 attack stat, not to mention the dex claiming it can easily overpower Machamp, the OG bodybuilder Pokemon, this way.

Astro Man's design is definitely among the weirder robot master bosses. I mean, he has red LEDs for eyes as opposed to the traditional human-like ones, and he doesnt have legs, only a giant black sphere that he emerges from in his boss intro, giving him an otherworldy, almost alien-ish vibe, hence the usage of "Astro" in his name.

Further reinforcing his space theme, he has 2 spheres that almost always circle around him, kind of like planets orbiting a sun or moons orbiting a planet.

Jokes aside, despite his name, The Worst is literally one of the best at being the ugliest thing ever conceived.

He's obese. He has warts. His teeth are mishapen. His finger nails look like a Temu version of Wildmutts' claws. There's literally nothing cool, cute or even remotely appealing about this guy (not helped by his utility being almost zero, even the other "used as a joke" transformations like Grey Matter and Nanomech have more utility than him). And admitedly, that gives him his own charm.

Not to mention, he and the other joke aliens from his debut episode (Walkatrout, Pesky Dust, Mole-stache) serve as a reminder that the Omnitrix is meant as a tool of piece to promote harmony, not a weapon. Therefore, having guys like The Worst as opposed to a million Humungosaurs or Gravattacks is justifiable in universe.

Ttar is one of my favourite of all the psuedo legendary Pokémon and for good reason too. Its a giant lizard monster covered with spikes-something to beware off right from the get go.

Sure its fangs and arms are tiny, but the squinted eyes make up for those, their almost always constant glare making it look pretty intimidating in addition to the aformentioned spikes. Its huge and chunky legs and super long tail with essentially a spiky mace at the end also help reinforce how scary it is. I can imagine it walking and causing tremors as it walks, and its tail crushing any unfortunate obstacle in its path as its swung back and forth.

Palafin is geniunely one of the most clever Pokémon designs in recent memory. At first glance, it looks kind of unchanged from its pre-evolved form, Finizen making the effort required to set up a union circle and grinding it to level 38 while it is active.

However, switch it out from battle for 1 turn, and it effectively pulls a typical hero costume change as its Zero to Hero ability activates. It now gets super top heavy, a cape, goggles and gloves, and can now stand on its tail. And the meek heart shape on its belly now becomes an homage to Superman's famous S symbol. It also gains a huge boost to its attacks and defenses to boot. Neat!

Despite being the first Optimus Prime+other bot=Super Prime combination ever, he still holds up even in 2026.

Firstly, its his new chestplate, which completely changes the silhouette of the OG Powermaster prime super mode/Super Ginrai, an awesome design in its own right. It retains the windows and headlights, but the silver makes it look armored. It also helps protect the exposed engine the og super mode has, removing a flaw the design had.

And secondly, the wings. Sure they're a bit tacky, but they scream, "I fly now!", and given most contemporary Autobots could not fly (and most of the time they need to be in alt mode to fly), it does make him unique in a sense due to this alone.

It also makes him look rather big and mighty, perfect for an upgrade acquired late in a show's run that he'd need to handle the toughest foes.
