Pay with Crypto in the Philippines
Hello fellow expats
I just found a way to pay with Crypto, in stores anywhere in the Philippines. Fees are low and it works without ID verification (no KYC) for small amounts, up to 200 USD per transaction and 500 USD per day.
Yodl Pay is a new, self-custodial wallet that allows you to spend crypto (like USDC or USDT) at any merchant in the Philippines that accepts QR Ph, the country's national QR code standard. The merchant receives local currency (PHP), while your crypto balance is automatically converted.
So technically, it even works in small provincial towns and villages, wherever they have Gcash or Maya.
How to use it?
Download the App: Install Yodl Pay from the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iOS.
Create Your Account: Sign up using your email, Google, or Apple account.
When asked for a referral code, enter the code ZK77CU to earn 500 points for your first payment.
Top Up Your Wallet: Fund your wallet with USDC or USDT on the Base or Arbitrum networks.
Scan and Pay: When at a checkout, use the Yodl app to scan the merchant's QR Ph code, confirm the amount in PHP, and authorize the payment.
How about the fees?
First of all there are the network fees you pay to top up your wallet, which are tiny on the Arbitrum or Base chain.
After that the only fees you pay are the conversion spread from Crypto to PHP, which will be roughly 0.5 to 2%.
Why would anyone still give so much money to Western Union or banks for their horrendous fees?
Sick from untreated water
I'm currently staying in a mountainous area with no easy access to treated drinking water. I started drinking the water the locals drink for a wile now. It's like spring water they get from a bit further up the mountain with a hose. At first it was ok for a wile and then suddenly not anymore. The water quality may have changed due to rain or whatever. I got diarrhea first which is nothing special just yet. I usually treat it by drinking water I boiled guava leaves in, which always helps against diarrhea.
So after that I stopped drinking the untreated water and also got rid of diarrhea. I almost feel normal now exept that my digestion is completely shut down. This has now become cronical since like 3 weeks already. I can barely eat, like a quarter of how much I would normally eat, and I can only pass stool maybe once in 4 to 5 days. I lost like 7 kgs already. If I eat only a little bit I feel completely full even until the next morning. I feel almost like I have a rock in my stomach.
Does anybody know what the reason for my ongoing condition could be? Is my gut still infected with bacteria or parasites? I already tried probiotics without success and guava tea gives only slight temporary relief.
Does anybody know of some over the counter drug that could help?
I remember having this exact same condition years ago, also caused by drinking water. Back then I successfully treated it with ivermectin a friend gave me. The problem is I probably can't buy ivermectin now without a prescription. I really don't enjoy going to hospitals here and I don't have much confidence in doctors here, so I'd prefer to find a solution myself first.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Polymarket slow
Is it just me or is Polymarket incredibly slow lately? Often times I can't even log in like right now.
Futures moon bot performance miserable
I'm writing this to warn everyone who considers to run futures moon bot. Don't do it.
They're advertising it as zero fee which sounds promising at first, but in fact, the fees on that one are much higher than on a normal grid bot. I was in shock when I realized that they actually take not only 20% of the grid profit but in addition to that also 20% of the trend pnl, a fee that would never even occure on a normal grid bot since fees only occur when it buys and sells there.
I launched this short bot with 15x leverage because I was sure BTC is going to go down. My liquidation price was even lower than the highest grid. The bot ran for roughly 20 days and did 1275 arbitrage rounds but I had barely any of that grid profit in the end because they took my entire grid profit amount as fee. See for yourself in the screenshot. I was left with only 2.5$ grid profit in the end. Once price went below the lowest grid level I closed the bot to take profit. I basically risked to lose 117$ plus extra margin with a liquidation price closer to the entry price than the take profit, just to make 44$. If that was just a normal futures short with 15x leverage, my risk would have been roughly the same but the profit would be over 150%.
99.9% of Crypto traders don't understand this chart pattern
99.9% of Crypto traders don't understand this chart pattern, despite it being one of the most important patterns for BTC.
It predicted the recent local top just below 83k. It predicted the cycle top at 126200 last October.
The pattern I'm talking about is described in detail here: https://medium.com/coinmonks/how-to-predict-reversals-on-bitcoin-before-they-happen-32d6fb613425
I trade this pattern on all timeframes, on my X account (@CryptopusCharts) you can see some of the trades I take based on this pattern.
What's going on with crypto twitter?
Crypto twitter is filled with two types of accounts.
The moonboys who tell you to buy every day, altseason is always starting. They just screenshot a chart and then randomly draw a line that goes straight up. This is then what's going to happen for whatever reason. They have no knowledge about reading a chart, interpreting price action, nothing. They post memes and stuff that provides no value at all and whenever the market dumps they blame it on allegedly random news events or "manipulation". Most of their followers have been holding Bitcoin and Altcoins since last September and all they do is pity themselves.
The guys who try hard to sound like experts, make complex drawings on the charts, but the outcome is always: "If price manages to go up, it's going to go up, but if not, its going to go down." Completely and utterly useless.
None of these guys can help anyone make money but yet they have hundreds of thousands of followers and get loads of engagement.
Meanwhile, a month or so ago I decided to create an X account myself (@CryptopusCharts) where I post regular market updates, talk about upcoming trade opportunities im looking out for and the exact trades I'm taking. Everything I say is based in real chart analysis and I always give a clear outlook what's likely to happen. In the last 12 days alone I made at least 3 really good calls that have printed money but nobody cares. I get like one or two likes per post and that's it. I'm not trying to sound like I'm the guru who's never wrong but at least I'm profitable.
There is also a few other X accounts I follow that are also often accurate and rather small as well. Are the masses really so desperate to lose all their money or why don't they follow somebody with a somewhat proven track record? It's really not that hard to scroll down on somebody's X profile and see how many times he's been right in the past.
What's going on when they're drunk?
I currently stay in one of the cottages of a Filipino family with whom I have a great relationship. We always cook and eat together.
Tonight they were visited by some of their relatives whom I didn't know yet. They started to drink their gin and soon after one of these guys whom I never met before ended up straight in my face all the time, telling me he wants to be my friend, keeps grabbing my hand and not letting go any more, keeps touching me the way I don't like to be touched by a stranger and making me hella uncomfortable.
After disturbing me long enough with the usual repetitive questions, he then went on to try to convince me that I'm a "spy" or an "Interpol", whatever that means to them and kept pressing me, trying to force a "confession" out of me. The sad thing is also they everyone around finds this behavior completely normal. Just absolutely weird.
I had to leave early. That's what always happens when there is some of these drunken weirdos around. I'm forced to leave immediately. They won't ever let go of me that's how obsessed they are. I'm not looking for an altercation either since I'm only a guest here and I'm apparently the only one who finds that weird. Don't they have any shame?
Is Altseason Coming Soon?
A detailed breakdown on why we'll still have to wait a little longer for altseason, purely based on the charts.
Has somebody ever discovered a scalping strategy for the 1 min timeframe that actually works on low cap altcoins / memecoins etc?
On lowcap altcoins, trading fees are super cheap so scalping with low leverage could potentially be super profitable there. It's just super hard to come up with a strategy that actually works.
I do code pine script and have made multiple promissing scripts for algo trading so far but mostly for higher timeframes. For 1 min chart I haven't achieved anything consistant enough that it could be worth trading it live.
