Just completed 1st year of BCA, what should I do in my remaining year?

Hi everyone I just gave exams for my 2nd sem and most probably ending 1st year with 7-7.5 CGPA, I know basics of c language, basics of html css js, also done R programming as per curriculum and lil bit python.

I don't have any major projects just vibe coded a portfolio website for some quick money.

I wanted some advice what should I do in my remaining 2 year like should I start preparing for nimcet, cuet pg , other mca exams or start learning a skill in particular domain and make some projects. As I have my 2 months sem break I was thinking about learning python in deep and learning some data science or ai related domain idk right now maybe just larping but am also worried about mca because I am from non maths commerce background in 12th and nimcet is maths heavy should I start preparing for maths from now or work on my skills this year and in final year i can prepare for nimcet?

Like am really confused it's kind of a spiral although I have started learning about python but am still worried about masters because of current job market bca grads even with skills are not getting job so idk if I should prepare for nimcet or work on skills or do both

And at the end is mca even worth it in current job market because although I have interest in tech but at the end it's all about money and if a degree like mba can pay me more then why not

Hi, my_qualifications - BCA Honours in Data Science and just giving my 2nd semester exams. I’ll be entering my 3rd semester in July. Current cgpa- 7.9

I wanted to connect with any seniors or students who are planning a similar path or are already studying abroad after BCA. I mainly wanted to ask whether a BCA Honours in Data Science is eligible for master’s programs abroad, especially in countries like Germany.

I already tried checking the eligibility status, but I’m still confused about whether it’s possible or not. Some people said they went directly for an MS after a 3-year BCA, while others said 16 years of education are required for Germany. What’s the actual truth, and what would be the most efficient path?

My course can be completed in either 3 or 4 years, so I’m trying to understand which option would be better for future eligibility. Right now, I’m considering pursuing an MS in Computer Science in Germany after my BCA hons ds (4yr). Any guidance or personal experiences would really help.

Hi everyone,

I’m from India and currently pursuing a BCA Honours in Data Science from a tier-3 private college. My program has an optional 4th research year under NEP.

Basically I can do it for 3/4yrs

Current CGPA: around 7.9 after 2 semesters, finishing my second sem this month.

I’m trying to realistically evaluate my chances for Germany because I will most likely need an education loan, so I cannot take huge risks blindly.

My confusion is mainly about the 3-year BCA eligibility situation.

I’ve seen some people on YouTube/Reddit get admitted to German public/applied universities after a 3-year BCA, especially in programs like Applied CS, Data Science, Information Systems, etc. But I’ve also seen many people say most universities reject BCA students due to ECTS/subject requirements.

So I wanted honest advice from people who actually studied or are studying in Germany.

My questions:

  1. Is admission to public/applied universities realistically possible after a 3-year BCA if profile is strong?

  2. Which universities/programs are more flexible for BCA students?

  3. How important are projects/internships compared to strict subject credits?

  4. Is doing the optional 4th research year a much safer option?

  5. How difficult is the current CS/IT job market in Germany for international students?

  6. Are English-only jobs realistically enough, or is German almost mandatory now?

  7. For someone taking a loan, would you personally consider Germany too risky currently?

  8. During the 18-month post-study job search period, how realistic is it to transition into a proper IT role?

I’m not looking for sugarcoated answers — I genuinely want realistic insight before making decisions.

Thanks a lot.
