I recently booked a Kia Seltos HTE Base Petrol. However, with the increasing ethanol blending in petrol (currently E20 and possibly higher in the future), I'm starting to have some concerns about long-term engine reliability, performance, and fuel efficiency.

Because of this, I'm now considering upgrading to the Seltos HTK+ Diesel instead.

My usage is around 800 km per month, with a mix of city and highway driving. I usually keep my vehicles for 8-10 years, so long-term ownership matters more to me than short-term savings.

Would switching from the seltos Petrol HTE to the sonet Diesel HTK+ be a sensible decision in 2026, considering:

Future ethanol blending in petrol

Long-term engine reliability

Maintenance costs

Fuel efficiency

Resale value

Possible future regulations on diesel vehicles

Has anyone else made a similar decision recently?
