Recently I received a damaged PPF 4500v V2. I could not turn the crown past 9:08 pm when adjusting time. And the date would not change automatically at midnight all the time, sometimes it was getting stuck in between two dates.

I decided to take matters into my own hands and open it up. To my surprise, it did not look like a Miyota movement under the hood. In fact it looked a lot like DG2813. But this is definitely not a stock DG2813 as this beats at 28800 vph. A DG2813 or Miyota 8215 beats at 21600 vph.

So I am thinking it is probably one of these two:

1. A hybrid of Miyota 9015 clone and DG2813.
2. A significantly modified DG2813 to beat at 28800 instead of 21600.
3. ???

I am attaching some photos here, you be the judge and tell me what you think.

By the way, I was able to fix it and the watch works perfectly fine now. Although I did not like the movement, there is no doubt that the exterior build quality of PPF is far superior to my MKS 4500v.

This is from the controversial PPF 4500v V2. Looks like now it has become my practice project.

It’s a new watch. Unfortunately it arrived broken. The time setting was getting stuck around 9pm. It would not move past that. The time setting mechanism was fine around 9am. So I figured something is up with date changing mechanism.

I opened it up out of curiosity. Of course I messed up. A few pieces jumped out of it as soon as I opened up that cover in the middle of that date wheel. So I was not able to take a photo to keep as a reference as I was planning to.

Now I guessed their location and closed everything back up, date change is completely non-functional now. Time setting and watch winding works fine.

1. Any advice on how can I salvage this?

2. Would it be wise to get a new Miyota movement instead? I am worried about the dial, date wheel and hands fitment.

PS: I have never ventured into this level of watch repair before, so I’m really a beginner. I am familiar with light cleaning using rodico, lubricating, hand replacements and minor regulating of the movement. Please feel free to explain it to me like a 5th grader.
