Finish my first MG!

Just finished my MG Virtue! He is such a big and cool kit! I just straight built him, with some paints here and there, and highlighting the edges.

I have always used Vallejo topcoat up until now, thinking it’s the same with other topcoats. But man, I tried using a mrHobby topcoat, and the difference is crazy.

I know the stickers are abhorrent, but I couldn’t find any water slide decals for him, anywhere near me, so I just used the included stickers.

Am I using too much paint?

Hi! I’m building an amplified Kaisergreymon kit, and I’m painting some parts with Mr. Hobby gold spray can.

I cut, sanded, and painted every part, individually, and I feel like I’m using way too much paint. I haven’t finished spraying everything and I already emptied a can.

I try to not overspray it, and only do quick bursts to try and save the paint, but I’m still using a lot of paint.

Is this normal? Should I put everything on a grid then spray everything all at once? I feel like if I do that, some of the undersides won’t get enough paint.

Thanks!

First MG in 10 years!

The last MG I built was the Daban MG Red Frame Kai, and Daban MG Strike.

The box is so long lol. They didn’t have any bags big enough for it, so it was a challenge to bring him home.

Anything I should be wary about this kit? I accidentally saw this kit recently, so I just had to go out and get it.

CCA if lieutenant Quattro Bajeena was in it

Could he have stopped Char?

>!It sucks so much that he died at the end of Zeta.!<

For real though, I was just trying to see which gold was better. Man, I didn’t think much of it, but Mr.Hobby gold spray can is INSANE! It looks so good!

The other one I tried doing the “candy” coating of silver base -> clear yellow.

Got some poses with my borderlands RX 78-2

Hi! It’s me again. I got some poses in for my RX 78-2! I would have put these on the original post, but I can’t seem to do it.

So the topcoat wasn’t fully cured, and I accidentally chipped off some of it on the thighs. Should I put another topcoat on it? I’m honestly not too bothered with it right now, so I think I’m just going to let it be.

Is it too messy, or just messy enough?

Hi! I just finished my RG RX 78-2 2.0!

I just used a gundam marker to draw on all of the edges and it looks so cool! Like a manga still/ drawing! That, with a flat topcoat.

There are some smudges here and there, and the lines are a bit uneven/ messy, but I feel like those add to the final result!

UPDATE: I got some poses in for the guy! I don’t think I could add more images on this post, so I just made a different one!

Does anyone bring their Gunpla around?

Hi! I just finished my RG RX 78-2 2.0 and I love it so much!

It feels a bit childish, but I kinda want to bring my gunpla around with me to show people, and play/ do some poses with it!

Is that weird? Does anyone do that, or have any tips to safely bring your gunpla with you?

Thanks!

Is it ok to just do obo build?

EDIT 1: I guess a better title would be: “ How to be ok with doing oob builds?”

I have a backlog and I really want to go through all of it. But I am always being super careful and meticulous with my build, so a single kit would usually take a while to finish. For reference, it took me 2 full weeks to finish my RG Nu, and I’m on summer break.

Every time I think of just doing a lazy, quick build of just double, or even single nip, I would feel kind of bad, like I’m not supposed to do that.

I know nub marks aren’t really visible from afar, but knowing they’re there, makes me sad lol.

Is this a thing? How do I get over feeling bad about doing quick builds?

Ps: I’m building RG RX 78-2 2.0 and I feel extra bad for doing so on a nice kit.

EDIT 2: It was just a rant at 1 am, but thank you guys so much for all the kind words! I really want to reply to everyone but there are so many comments!

I realized that I wanted to rush through things, just to finish my backlog, so I can justify getting more kits. A part of me do want to rush through it, but a big part of me really want to take time to make every kits look fancy.

I do like the idea of building now and detail later, so I’m going to give it a try to see how things go!

Is it a hot take that I like Alyzeus’s design?

Just finished my Alyzeus, or at least the main thing. He’s a BIG BOY!

I saw a lot of people hating how he looks, but I really like it!

I like that his design is basically the “random bullshit go” meme, and I like that so much! He looks so much cooler than Penelope. He is very geometric and I can see why people said it’s similar to armored core mechs.

The few things I didn’t like about this kit is that the inner leg armor is just sitting there and not connected to anything. And also the long tail kind of looks silly, but manageable.

I don’t really mind that he’s just grey. It makes him look like a fighter jet, which is cool.

Real question. Side Arms or Front Arms?

Just finished mp Nu! About to start Alyzeus!

I like red, so I painted him red

First time building a big Gundam

I just got the HG Alyzeus and wow, it’s HUGE! It’s so big, I can physically hug it lol.

I have only built HG and RG kits before. I recently saw this kit, and it looks awesome! I know it was a big kit, but seeing the box in person, I was genuinely surprised by how big it actually is.

I’m kind of excited and scared at the same time lol. There are so, so many runners, it’s wild.

I just want to share my thoughts on first time building a big kit! Any words of advice or your own experiences are welcome!

Cheapest build for a 4080 Super?

For context, I had a PC, until I didn't. I had to move from Vietnam to Canada. I was thinking of sending my pc over, but because of some complications, I couldn't send my pc over.

On a positive note, I brought over my 4080 Super with me. It's an AERO 4080 Super Oc, and I'm thinking of building a pc for it. I just need a barebones pc that works with a 4080 super.

  • New build or upgrade?

-> It's a new build

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

-> I have an Aero 4080 Super OC. I don't need a monitor, I'm planning to play on a TV.

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

->Purely gaming. I'm not really focused on any one game. I want to run 60fps at 1440p or 1080p at least.

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

-> I'm in Canada, around Vancouver area.

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

-> Don't really need a monitor. I'm playing on a TV.

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

-> Roughly 800-1000 CAD, I'm willing to go to 1200 CAD, but I'm just looking to build the barebones essentials for my 4080 super.

  • WiFi or wired connection?

-> Don't need WiFi. I'm using a LAN.

  • Size/noise constraints?

-> Nothing in particular. But if possible, I want to build something compact and as small as possible.

  • Color/lighting preferences?

-> Not really a major factor, but if possible, an all white pc would be great.

  • Any other specific needs?

-> As I mentioned before, I just need the barebones pc that works with a 4080 super, and has potential for future storage, ram, and maybe cpu upgrades.

I went to PC part picker and tried picking out the cheapest parts I could find here: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/LNy4MF

It's been a while since I last built a pc, I don't remember much, so I just picked out random parts.

I am playing on a HP Pavilion laptop, that has a 1050, not even a Ti. So anything better than that would be great! Thanks

I transformed the RG Zeta, Twice

I transformed it into wave raider mode, it looks amazing. Then transformed back to gundam mode. Almost had a heart attack when the V fins hit the chess part.

Yes, I know it’s infamously bad, which is why I wanted to try building it. That, and I’m watching Kamille piloting it.

I want to love this kit so so bad. The zeta design is so good, and I like smaller kits. HG zeta just doesn’t have enough details for me.

Probably going to transform again after finishing up the decals and top coat.

Took almost 2 solid weeks, but I finished my RG Nu!

First time trying scribing! A bit messy at places, but overall looks good!

Did some light paint job here and there. Really like how the fin funnels turned out.

Had to cement my fin funnels because they were so floppy. They didn’t stick together at all.

It’s so big. I know it’s a big kit, but it’s hard to tell through pictures!
