Luxury hotels are becoming bigger flexes than luxury shopping now

Maybe it’s just social media, but it feels like people are spending more on “experiences” than actual luxury products lately. Everyone’s posting Aman stays, private villas, luxury trains, yacht trips, etc. Feels like the definition of luxury is slowly shifting from owning things to experiencing things.

Hot take: modern Rolls-Royce specs are getting crazier than supercars

Saw some recent custom Rolls-Royce builds/specs this week, and honestly, luxury cars are entering a different era. Bright interiors, wild colour combinations, illuminated everything, people are treating Rolls-Royces less like chauffeur cars and more like rolling fashion statements now.

Feels like Indian craftsmanship is becoming much more visible in global luxury fashion lately

One thing I’ve genuinely noticed recently is how much more visible Indian craftsmanship and influence feel in global luxury conversations now.

Between Indian representation at Chanel, couture detailing getting more appreciation globally, and even luxury brands leaning into traditional Indian craftsmanship and textiles more openly, it feels like there’s been a noticeable shift in the last year or so.

What’s interesting is that it doesn’t feel limited to “traditional wear” anymore, either it’s showing up in modern luxury styling, accessories, runway details and even how brands talk about craftsmanship overall.

Personally, I think luxury fashion becomes far more interesting when it includes a strong cultural identity instead of everything looking globally identical.

Curious whether others are noticing this too, or if it just feels more visible right now because of social media and fashion events.

My feed was randomly full of clips from the Sephora event in Mumbai yesterday and the turnout actually looked pretty crazy.

Feels like international beauty brands are suddenly doing way more in India lately launches, events, influencer stuff etc. A few years ago it felt like most of these brands just quietly appeared in stores without much happening around them.

Do you think India is finally becoming a bigger focus for luxury beauty brands, or is this just the hype around Fenty?

Also curious if anyone here actually went or tried the products already.

I’ve always liked when a watch feels almost like a piece of jewellery. This one from Chopard with the mother-of-pearl dial and diamond bezel really leans into that elegance.

Do you prefer watches like this or more sporty everyday pieces?

Hermès posted around 5–6% growth this quarter while a lot of luxury groups seem to be slowing down. Do you think their strategy of limited production and ultra-exclusivity is the reason?

I came across this piece about Balenciaga starting a new art series tied to their heritage and contemporary artists.

It’s interesting seeing luxury brands move deeper into art and culture rather than just fashion collections. Some of their shows already feel like installations or performance pieces.

Curious what people think does this make fashion more interesting, or does it start to feel a bit like marketing?
