Cosy Heat Pump Install Quote

Hello, looking for advice on this quote from Octopus for 9kW Cosy heat pump.

I live in a three-bed mid-terrace house in Southwest england with an old 90's oil boiler. I've gotten a quote from another installer but was unimpressed with the survey whereas Octopus was friendly and very thorough. I'm waiting on a British Gas survey next week.

My main thoughts/worries are that the 9kW heat pump is oversized for the house, a 7kW may be more suitable (Octopus doesn't offer)?

The surveyor said all radiators would need replacing but the final quote has only 3 as they plan on running the heat pump at a higher flow temperature, will this cost more or be less efficient?

There's usually only two of us in the house, sometimes 3. Is the hot water boiler too oversized then, Octopus recommend a size up so our 3-bed has a tank for around 4.

We're a pretty frugal house, switch off lights/electrics etc.

Any other thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thankyou!

Splatoon should make a looter-shooter with the characters from Splatoon 3!

Gotta love AI. Going to take over everything!

(I was asking if I could find the game cheaper elsewhere)

Pay off mortgage or leave a tiny amount for equity.

Hello, I'm writing this on behalf of my mum.

She is in her early 60's with around £10,000 mortgage left. She has a large cash savings amount and could easily pay off the mortgage with no worries.

As for pension she has been self employed for most of her life and at the moment doesn't have a large amount. She's always been risk averse and I've only recently gotten her into investing and financial planning etc. If she paid off the mortgage she said she would take the old mortgage payment and save/invest that instead.

As I understand there are a few benefits to keeping your mortgage with a small amount, say £100. It protects against deed/ownership fraud and you have an easier time to get a loan based off the equity of the house, although we're not quite sure how that works.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, thankyou!

Why do I never see Bees and Insects at Garden Centres?

Hi, I live in the UK and been wondering this for a while. I've gone to quite a few garden centres and considering the amount of flowers and plants with lots of variety, I would imagine they would be teeming with life. Instead I see nothing.

I'm wondering why this is, do most garden centres use pesticides etc.?
