OPT/EAD: Should I pay for premium processing?

Job is set to start first week of August. I'm wondering if I should upgrade to PP now. Specifically worried that if I upgrade now (7/2) then my EAD will be approved later than it may be approved with regular processing.

Right now, we're seeing approvals for 3/24 or so. So maybe in the next 5-6 business days, there will be approvals for 3/31. My worry is that if I upgrade now, I will most likely definitely have to wait for another 30 business days. On the other hand,. there is no guarantee that I will get it now either

Type: Initial POST‑COMPLETION OPT
• Premium Processing: NOT YET
• Date Applied: 03/31/2026
• Request for Initial Evidence (RFIE): NA
• Biometrics Requested: YES 04/01/2026
• Biometrics Completed: 04/22/2026
• Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID): NO
• Date Approved: ....

NOT FROM A BANNED COUNTRY... Wondering what folks think? Should I do PP? If not, how long should I wait before I do PP?

Looking for 1/2Bed Apartment Lease Takeover $3000

Hi, I’m looking for a lease takeover starting late July / August 1st for an apartment — no additional roommates.

Would ideally like a 2 bed but a larger 1 bed could work.

Looking in most of Manhattan, Astoria/ridgewood, Flatbush, PLG, Crown Heightz, bed stuy, Bushwick, greenpoint, Williamsburg, etc.

How safe is it really to live next to projects? Sumner / Marcy Houses especially

Thinking of living in that area, ellery st or so. Which is kind of in between the two projects.

My only concern is feeling uncomfortable or being too on edge. Don’t want to get harassed / catcalled. But more than anything I don’t want to feel uncomfortable or scared when im alone coming back late at night

“Safety” bedstuy / stuy heights

How do you figure out if a neighborhood is “safe” or not? I’ve been living here for the past five years or so in different neighborhoods but considering moving again.

Primarily thinking about BedStuy. Reddit is totally divided with some people saying past Utica is not super safe?? But idk if that’s true. I’m a woman in mid 20s who has to travel later at night for work often.

I just don’t know what to believe? When I’ve been in the area it’s been fine for the most part? But I haven’t been at night because it’s rlly far from my current place

gentrification___?

I've been living here for the past 5 years. Curios to see what New Yorkers—not transplants—think of those moving to lower income neighborhoods because they can't afford to live elsewhere. What's the line between gentrification versus yk loving your neighborhood, engaging in the cultures, wanting to have roof over your head

How do you tell if an NYC neighbourhood is for you?

The title pretty much sums it all up im just curious about what kind of things people prioritise in a neighbourhood there’re living in?

Obviously the budget and commute / specific apartment will dictate most of fhis. But barring that, how do u sense the vibe of a neighborhood?? What do you look for? IF I get the option to

I’ve been walking around and also have lived in a couple different areas over the past few years. I just am unsure about how to describe why one block works and the next doesn’t solely based off my gut / vibes.

How can I figure out if I “see myself living there”

How safe is it to live next to Sumner Houses or Marcy Projects, really?

Not necessarily an either or. Most likely seeing places next to sumner for my budget. Obviously, I’m not from here but moved for school 5 years ago. I’ve been living in Flatbush and love it there but need to move up north for work…I’m a brown woman in my 20s if that matters…I will be getting back home alone around 2-3 am sometimes…also nervous about cops being there around all times

Have been hearing all kinds of things about the “safety” of the areas / projects I listed but idk if I should believe them..just sounds like conceited opinions from people who haven’t lived here either?

What do you think though? Is it safe to live right next to them? Feels gross even asking this so sorry
