Weekday operations are over :(

One of my favorite things about this season has been the extended hours in July and parts of August; with the park closing at 9PM every day including weekdays. We live close enough that that has meant being able to swing by after work which has been awesome.

But as of now, both the extended hours and weekday operations have ended. Park closes at 8PM the next few Saturdays; and 7PM the next few Sundays (but 9PM tonight, August 16th, because of a passholder event).

Bummer for the peak summer season to be winding to a close! Though usually these weekends are awesome before Fright Fest starts, very low crowds, Hurricane Harbor still open.

Bonus Hurricane Harbor week next week

Under the SFEC schedule, weekday operations at Hurricane Harbor were scheduled to stop this week.

Instead, Hurricane Harbor will be open 11-6 next week with limited rides (just the wave pool, adventure cove, and lazy river).

Enchanted Parks USA Posts new Corporate Promo Video featuring our park

Short clip featuring Enchanted Parks CEO James Harhi and his kids. If you weren't aware, his two daughters worked at our park over the summer in food service.

Kinda neat seeing us as the backdrop for a corporate promo video. Even if it's just a quickie iPhone-shot video.

The video is promoting their new 'family fun packs'. The promos online show a new black cap to the drink bottles; as shown in the video. But I haven't actually seen those in the park yet, has anyone else? (As an aside, we have one each of the Six Flags 2026 bottles and an Enchanted Parks bottle, and I have to say, the Enchanted Parks bottle is substantially better.)

Fright Fest memories?

2026 will be the final year under the Fright Fest name. Much of the Fright Fest experience at our park is developed in-house. Our status as a lower-tier park within the chain has ironically saved us because we never really adopted the custom IP stuff or various things that would have to 'go away' with the divestiture of Six Flags. Nevertheless with a new name, new corporate leadership, and more creative freedom for our in-house entertainment department, next year is sure to be different.

I'm curious to hear some of your favorite memories (and photos!) from years past at Fright Fest?

Final two weekends for shows!

Just a heads up and reminder. This weekend and next weekend (plus next week, of course) are the final days for the new entertainment package this year.

After August 2nd, the entertainment staff begin switching to "Fright Fest" mode, rehearsing and preparing for Fright Fest.

As a reminder, we've got a few changes to the Fright Fest Lineup this year! A new haunted house replaces Jingle Mangle. Additionally, we'll have a version of Miss Kitty's Cabaret that is more Halloween themed inside Miss Kitty's, and a new variety song and dance show in front of the palace theater. This will be the final year for Love at First Fright.

There has been an ACTUAL incident on a coaster. The GP may never recover.

Big Dipper at Blackpool Pleasure Beach apparently failed to clear a hill, rolled back, derailed, and damaged supports and the track underneath. No reports of injuries. A few things circulating social media.

But for real with all the pearl clutching this year over basic ride stops... the real injuries are going to be the folks getting hurt rushing to the comments section to tell everyone this is why they don't ride coasters.

Information dropped for the final Fright Fest

For the first time in a while we have a new haunted house! Jingle Mangle, sadly, is no more.

This will be the final year for Love at First Fright. Two new shows this year; Monster Mash Bash and Blood Bank Cabaret.

Statement from CEO James Harhi on Dining Plans

The following is now the auto-reply if you send questions to the dining plan e-mail:

Dining Plan FAQ

A Note from James Harhi, CEO of Enchanted Parks

Hello everyone,

We've received your emails about the Dining Plan, and I wanted to personally answer some of the most common questions. While I wish this process had been faster and simpler, I believe you deserve transparent answers—even when the answers aren't perfect.

Q: Can I speak to someone by phone or at the park?

A: Unfortunately, no.

At this time, I am personally handling the Dining Plan refund process. Our park team members, call center staff, social media teams, guest services employees, and information booths do not have access to the information needed to assist with Dining Plan refunds.

Please be kind to them. They didn't create this situation, and they genuinely want every guest to have a great day at the park.

I'd honestly love to talk with many of you—not just about refunds, but about life, roller coasters, and the future of our parks. However, until we get through this process, my entire focus needs to be on getting these refunds resolved. After Labor Day, I look forward to getting back to the fun stuff.

Q: Why is this taking so long?

A: Fair question.

Back in April, I thought I had a solid plan to get this resolved quickly. Since then, that plan has changed, evolved, and frankly been derailed several times.

I'm not going to point fingers at anyone involved, but I will take responsibility for underestimating how complicated this process would become. Multiple companies, systems, payment methods, and account reviews are involved, which has created delays none of us anticipated.

I know none of that makes waiting any easier, and it certainly doesn't speed things up. I simply want you to know that work is continuing behind the scenes every day.

Q: If I email or call more often, will I get my refund faster?

A: No.

I understand the frustration, but additional emails or repeated inquiries don't move an account ahead in the process.

The best thing you can do is keep an eye on your email and watch for updates from us.

Q: What if I selected a credit card refund, but that card is no longer active?

A: That's okay.

Once we receive the final reporting information from Six Flags, we'll identify any refunds that couldn't be processed back to the original credit card. We'll then contact you directly and obtain a mailing address so we can send a check.

Q: Why can't Enchanted Parks just send me my money already?

A: Because of how the original transaction was processed.

The Dining Plan was purchased through Six Flags, making them the merchant of record. Credit card industry rules generally require refunds to be attempted back to the original payment method before other options can be used.

Additionally, some guests:

Had payment plans.

Filed chargebacks.

Changed cards.

Stopped making installment payments.

Because of this, Six Flags must verify each account and confirm the actual amount paid before funds can be returned.

Enchanted Parks does not have access to those payment systems, so we're waiting for the same information you're waiting for.

Q: When will this all happen?

A: I wish I had a better answer.

Honestly, I expected this to be completed well before today.

I speak with Six Flags regularly—usually every couple of days—to request updates and push this process forward. As of today, we're still waiting on the final value report needed to complete the remaining refunds.

As soon as we have the information, we'll continue moving forward and communicate updates.

Q: Why did you get rid of the Dining Plan?

A: It wasn't because I dislike you, your family, or anyone who used it.

My belief is that the Dining Plan was ultimately hurting the long-term health of the park.

I would rather invest resources into:

New rides

Better attractions

More entertainment

Improved guest experiences

than continue a program that, in my opinion, encouraged us to focus on selling large quantities of food rather than improving the quality of what we offer.

That said, I completely understand that the timing of this decision has been difficult. Many families carefully budget their entertainment expenses, and changes like this can impact summer plans and household finances.

If this decision negatively affected your family, I sincerely apologize.

Q: Why should I come to the park after this?

A: Because it's still your park.

I spend a lot of time walking our parks, talking with guests, and meeting team members. I genuinely believe our parks look better than they have in years.

Our teams have worked hard to improve:

Park cleanliness

Landscaping and appearance

Ride reliability and uptime

Guest experience throughout the property

Most importantly, families are still creating memories and taking a break from everyday life's challenges.

I know we've disappointed some guests during this process. That's on me. But I hope you'll come see the improvements for yourself and give us the opportunity to earn your trust again.

Thank you for your patience, your feedback, and for continuing to be part of the Enchanted Parks family.

James Harhi

55 Years ago today, the third and final Angus Wynne Six Flags parks opened its gates as Six Flags over Mid-America

In the 1990’s it changed its name to its current name; Six Flags St. Louis. And in 2027 under its new ownership it’ll be renamed “Mid-America by Enchanted Parks.”

Really cool history of a great park that has been sadly neglected in more recent years.

When it opened it had just a single coaster (which is still operating). Themed uniforms worn by employees that matched what section they’re in are seen in this photo. This stayed in some limited fashion through the 1990’s when as a cost savings measure, it was replaced with the standard Six Flags polo that employees had to purchase and maintain themselves. (Instead of being issued a uniform, maintained by the park, when they got to their shift.)

If you’re ever riding the Tommy G Robertson train at Six Flags St. Louis, that big grey building to your left opposite the log flume is Wardrobe. Today it’s where employees go to buy uniform items and where entertainment costumes are mended. But back in the day it’s where those section-specific uniforms were washed and stocked!

My first job was at this park. A long time ago. On Saturdays being at literal capacity where guests had to wait in line for someone to leave before they could enter the park was a pretty regular occurrence. Today? Not so much.

Here’s to hoping that the next chapter under Enchanted Parks is one that goes the other direction.

Fun fact: In terms of actual park area (not including undeveloped land, etc.), SFSTL is one of the top ten largest Six Flags parks (well, was), at ~280 acres (they own 323, but about 40 is undeveloped). Although it's not nearly as dense as others and has lots of green space. Which in some ways doesn't make it feel as big; and I've always appreciated all the trees. The park originally owned over 500 acres, but sold off 180 acres in 2014 which is now a subdivision.
