Does Chance of Success factor in Flexible Spending

I spent a good while setting up lots of spending with flexible categories. I made the settings for increased and decreased spending based on market returns and my actual Chance of Success went up. However in the trials where I failed I did not see any noticeable changes in spending. Even though I had a 40% decrease set.

Is it not included or what am I missing?

[\Frustrated] 401k Rollover

I have been planning this for over a year, repeatedly discussing with my assigned Fidelity advisor that when initiated my rollover (partial) I would be able to select a single fund. I spent the last year moving funds around to properly setup that fund I wanted to rollover but when I come to do it this is not an option and I must partially rollover all funds. This will lead me to have to sell and rebuy to get myself aligned again.

My assigned advisor has a track record of being wrong sadly.

While writing this a colleague has told me that if I call in I should be able to do this so perhaps this is not going to be so bad.

2nd Year Pricing

I got a good discount for year 1. I am not my use can justify $99 for the second year. Is there a way to get a discounted 2nd year, otherwise I think I will have to cancel.

Thanks

Interesting Auto Created Portfolio Analyzer

I know people are down on Gemini at the moment but I have not had too many issues.

I like to ask Gemini to review the portfolios suggested by YouTube channels vs my goals. Today, for the first time, it generated a nice little analyzer allowing me to adjust the % of the funds mentioned by the YouTube channel to see impact.

Nothing earth shattering just interesting

Risk Measurement Tool from AI

The talk about the Boldin risk tool, which is useless IMHO, got me to think about this. I used a simple prompt.

Create a minimum 25 question questionnaire to help determine my risk tolerance for investing. Each question should have multi choice and not obvious answers. At the end perform a detailed analysis of my answers and create my personal risk profile

Gemini Pro was not so good as it used all my personal info and the quiz was far too tailored to me. Claude did a great job with broad questions.

This was the initial output

The detailed analysis was very thorough.

Password via Phone

Tried calling in today and it asked me to enter my password using my phone meypad. Problem is I'm using a password manager and a very complicated password. Nothing I could do would get me in and no amount of hitting. #got me through. Eventually I found another number that did not require this.

Asking for a password to be entered by phone makes no sense in this day and age.

401 Contributions Question/Scenario

This is a simple concept but a little hard to explain. It seems so obvious that I am wondering what I am missing

  • I am over 50
  • I earn over 150k
  • I would max out 401k pre tax and catch up using required roth. But not additional contributions were planned
  • My company matches 6% but does not match on the catch up. I believe but struggling to get confirmation they would do a true up on this.
  • Working this way there is a significant drop in my paycheck once the contributions switch to roth

It seems so simple but a friend had the idea of

  • Spread pretax over the whole year to get the full 6% match without true-up complication
  • Contribute after tax $$ to make up the difference (or maybe a little more) on the catch-up
  • 401K offers immediate conversion, so those funds are immediately converted to Roth 401K

I feel like I have to be missing something here? Poke holes and ask questions for clarification.

Thanks 😄

Gemini nerfing

It's all over the web of course, but the Gemini nerfing is really frustrating. I have some faith it will be fixed but.

I am a pro user, I have a ongoing thread where I update my dog's health, he has a health issue that we track, today. I added a three-line update and used 35% of my windows allowance.

10 Year Rolling Returns

Just for my "hobby" of dreaming up things to do with AI and a thought from one of Rob Berger's comments this week. This is the 10 year cumulative stock market returns gross and net of inflation. I was pretty surprised how high they were, mostly.

I don't often see much discussion of Social Security timing with a 100% spousal benefit for your partner.

I found it very interesting that my Open Social Security recommended claiming time is 67 and 4 months but if I assume a reduction in benefits of 23%, then it recommends claiming at 62.

I'm only 59 right now but this does complicate decision making over the next couple of years 😊

I also understand the benefit of waiting till 70 for survivor benefits but I am by far the healthiest person in our relationship. The draw down on savings from waiting till 70 would just be too much at the moment

Any thoughts?
