Grandparent classes?

Our hospital offers grandparent classes to provide an update on best practices for caring for children/babies for new/expecting grandparents. I don’t want to offend our parents but there are definitely some things that were “best practice” 30 years ago that are absolute no-nos today. Wondering what else we haven’t come across yet that they might need to know about. So…. If you were born in the early to mid-90s, what are some of the things that have changed since then that your parents might need to re-learn?

Recommendations for a cooler for pumping at work?

FTM and I’m looking for some kind of cooler bag to store milk in while I pump at work. Preferably something that can have a second life as a snack bag later. Currently comparing the yeti 3L snack box vs their 9L day trip box - both are insulated the same. And then thinking to put the cooler in a secondary bag with my pump and pump parts? Any suggestions or alternative recs appreciated! Should I be concerned about an ice pack keeping the milk cold enough?

Infant play mats

Looking at infant/newborn play mats- is there a reason you can’t replace that with a heavy blanket or quilt and baby toys?

Travel system vs carry cot stroller

Sincere question here: Can someone explain the safety concern with using a travel system as a stroller? Infant car seats are supposed to be safe for 2 hours, who is taking their infant for a 2 hour stroll?

Worried about chemical treatments on mattresses, sheets, and clothes for baby?

FTM, working on building a list of things we will need for baby. Can anyone provide context on whether flame retardants are required/common on things like bassinet mattresses, crib mattresses, sheets, baby clothes? Other chemicals? I prefer to use natural materials and avoid some of the nastier chemicals when possible but don’t want to break the bank. Recommendations for products that are “chemical-free”?

For context, we are in the USA.
