‼️‼️PSA TO THE CANADIAN MOMMAS RE SLEEP CONSULTANTS‼️‼️

Please check your coverage under your work benefits for social work, and some sleep consultants will be covered under your benefits!!!!

You have to make sure the sleep consultant is a RSW and you can submit to insurance for coverage.

I did not know this but had to share. I have an apt tomorrow afternoon for a consult :)

Being a human pacifier is making me hate breastfeeding

I want to start by saying i love breastfeeding my baby. I am so fucking proud of myself for doing it, getting over the latch issues and finally getting into a groove with my LO.

But my lord, by the end of the day I feel SO sucked out.

She’s 10 weeks tomorrow, and almost exclusively nurses to sleep. Now i have no issues with the actual feeding- deeper, longer sucks. It’s when she is done with eating and uses my nips as a pacifier that literally makes me grind my teeth with every tiny suckling.

When I’m putting her down for the night our feed can last up to 2 hours with her just comfort nursing and suckling for about 1-1.5 hrs.

With each middle of the night wake up she will only fall back asleep on my boob, which can again last for 30 mins to an hour.

SOMETIMES I’ll get lucky and she’ll pop off on her own, this happens maybe 10% of the time. I’ve tried gently breaking the suction and removing my nip when I feel like she’s in a deeper sleep, this works maybe 30% of the time and the rest of the time she just roots and roots until I put it back in.

We’ve also tried a number of pacifiers to no avail but maybe need to give those more of a steady go.

The last 2 nights she’s maybe going through a growth spurt but would wake up every time I tried to put her in her bassinet. I had about 4-5 failed attempts, and with every waking I’d need to do the whole rigamarole all over again, back on the boob, wait til she falls asleep, then wait 10-15 mins to try the next transfer.

I finally tagged my husband in at 12:30 bc I could not bear to have her suck on my boobs one more time. He took her downstairs and she basically cried herself to sleep after an hour 😮‍💨

I’m so exhausted of being the only one that can put her to sleep and it’s really making me resent that I chose to breastfeed.

Anyone else have any luck with putting an end to this? Any recommendations welcome, including pacis that worked!

Also before I get the “she’s still little, she needs you etc” I’m very aware lol but it’s not a habit I want her to get used to and would like to maintain my sanity during the rest of our breastfeeding adventure 😬

Ya’ll where are we breastfeeding to minimize back pain???

I feel like my body is broken from breastfeeding.

I’m EBF to a clusterfeeding 4 week old, mostly on the couch during the day and in my nursing chair during the evening but both feel the same in my body.

I have tried the my brestfriend pillow- no change. Side lying at night time has been a game changer but when I’m downstairs on the couch I don’t really have the room.

Considering buying a wedge pillow? Has anyone tried?

Also doing stretches nightly which helps for about 10 minutes until I feed again lol

Where are you all breastfeeding?
