Recently have been noticing loud vibration when at highway speed from from drivers side of my 2014 MK6 sportswagen tdi. Recently just got summers on and tired balanced. The car drives like it has an unbalanced tire even though I just got all balanced and steering hasn’t been tight.

Jacked it up and found this small crack on and steering knuckle as pictured. My question is how soon should I change it, and are there any other components or reasons that could have caused this? Lastly I’ve been starting to wrench more is this a complex job and are there any other parts I should swap out in the process.

Long story short I’ve owned this 2003 Toyota Matrix 1.8L (1ZZ-FE) for the last 10 years. When I bought it, it had 66,000km now it’s sitting at 186,000km and the whistle is still and has always been there. Mainly only when accelerating harder or going up hills.

I recently replaced air filter hose, air intake manifold gasket, and upstream o2 sensor. No luck with whistle gone taken to multiple shops and no one seems to have an answer. Many have tried and failed, I’m open to any suggestions I will make it my life goal to fix this whistle.

On my 2003 Toyota Matrix (1ZZ-FE) Opened the oil cap to top up, noticed some metal sheered inside. What would this be and is my car “cooked”. No real issues with car other than valve cover leak.
