My TCL 65C7L experience - Good Vs Bad

Recently purchased TCL 65C7L, wanted to share my whole experience, in-case others are planning.

Cost + Delivery

  • Ordered from Flipkart (India)
  • TV Price - 101940 INR / 1080 USD (2 years default TCL warranty. Including 7k INR exchange discount)
  • Extended warranty 2 years - 8223 INR / 87 USD
  • Delivered within 24 hours

Good

  • Display is amazing on all fronts - contrast, brightness etc
  • Anti reflective coating is good. No issues in direct sunlight.
  • Attached pic is Interstellar on Dolby Vision IQ
  • Sound is very good, most people won't need external setup. Unless you're setting up a home theatre.
  • Very fast boot up. (15-30 secs)
  • Apps don't reset when switching to another app.
  • All video and audio formats are present, DA, DV IQ/Dark/Light, Flimmaker, Sports etc.
  • Picture mode auto changes on different videos.
  • Haven't tested game mode with my laptop yet.

Bad

  • bottom right edge accumulates static, can give slight shock on firm touch.
  • Flipkart authorised installation partner Jeeves is horrible. They don't follow official rate card, charge extra for wall mount and don't have idea about the TV. The first installation guy was trying to get away with installing a 55inch TV wall mount, for a 65 inch TV 💀
  • TCL authorised installation guy is much more professional, knows about the TV. But he too charged 3k for wall mount installation and didn't provide GST bill. TCL support is also not very helpful on this, initially they said wall mount is free, but changed statement on later date.

Initially I was trying to get C7K, but couldn't find it since last year. So picked this one up.

TLDR: Great TV. Arrange installation from TCL support, ask for GST bill.
