Working on a film script set around 1856 - 1860 (AD).

When the Muluki Ain has just been implemented in 1854. I am looking for recommendations on books to read about this time period in Nepal, also more specifically in Gorkha, Nepal. I am currently reading The Muluki Ain of 1854 by Rajan Khatiwoda. Please point me in the direction of other resources I can read, watch etc... I am specifically interested in how Thapa Magar culture changed and how their lives were effected around this time.

Also I need a book or information about Thapa Magar religion before hinduism became more prevalent in those parts of Nepal, especially the more aministic practices of the Thapa Magars, burial practices...

If you know specifically about burial practices of Thapa Magars especially say from 1500s to 1800s (AD) please comment. From what I have gathered so far Magars used to practice burial in the forest rather than cremation.

End Of Oak Street review. 2.5 stars.

From the director of the amazing It Follows comes a very strange movie. Yet, I still enjoyed pockets of its chaotic weirdness. We finally get hairy dinosaurs and a bizarrely excessive overuse of split-diopter lenses. It is so strange I wouldn't have been surprised if "Oh, hi Mark" popped into the movie at any time.

Did Grok Imagine just become way worse?

With the new update all 80% of images grok produces now looks like that super fake AI look. It was way better like a month ago. And now almost every other image it creates, people have three hands, 20 fingers...whats going on?

Here is my review for SpidermanBND.

At a time when superhero fatigue is real and every Marvel movie feels like a carbon copy of the last, Spider-Man: Brand New Day deserves credit for trying to shake things up. For that alone, it earns some respect.

Fkc*d up movies.

Who has searched most fked up movies ever made and tried to watch them? lol

Out of the ones I've seen I would say the most messed up ones are, A Serbian film, Human Centipede 2, Salo, The terrifier 3 (also funny though), Antichrist, Martyrs and Audition.

Of course what is messed up is subjective from one person to the next. Would you be able to make any of these in Nepal?

Came back to Nepal after 10 years.

Went for a hike in Langtang. Was sitting by fire place in teahouse. Owner of said teahouse came up to me and said, this space only for foreigners, as in get out and go sit in Nepali area. (there was another room with fire place in kitchen area where the guides and nepali people were) WTF. I was shocked. Is this how we treat each other? They were busy I understand but there is a way to say it too. Ordered a beer and didn't move cause I'm guessing the owner thought "yo nepali haaru paaisa ni spend gaardaina"....Next day had breakfast and told him thats not right when leaving. Any one else experienced this preferential treatment to foreigners when hiking? And also lot of nepalis are richer than lot of foreigners who come to hike here so why this weird segregation shit? Affnai desh ma nepali haru estto boghnu na paros. (This was only this one teahouse, others were fine)

This movie is definitely going to become a Cult Classic.

This movie went quite a bit under the radar when it came out in 2023 and was very divisive/polarizing. Definitely had the best performance of that year by Willa Fitzgerald which is also one of my favorite performances ever. Check it out if you are into Tarantino, Lynch, Coen Brothers esque films. Go in as blind as you can, its one of those where the less you know the better. Top 5 movies of 2023. But yeah you may hate it since it was very polarizing. 😂

Theatre etiquette

I understand theatre etiquette is different all over the world. For example seeing the odyssey opening day, people were cheering as soon as they showed travis Scott on screen. My first thought was, thats fucking weird. People practically only do this in marvel movies...or used to at their peak...such as endgame etc...this was a Christopher Nolan...more serious type film.

After having lived abroad for a long time. I am shocked coming back to nepal and seeing how people behave while watching movies here.

  1. Constant talking throughout the movie.

  2. Constant phone usage throughout movies...taking pictures etc...

Did these type of things happen abroad? Yes, but it was rare and people would do for the most part try and do it discreetly. Here noone seems to respect the other people in the theatre.

Crazy thing is I mostly go to watch English movies in the theatre which means a lot of times that just by deduction it is mostly at the least slightly or more educated people going to see those movies.

If you do this abroad, people will tell you to shut up..and if incessantly doing it, you may even be asked to leave.

Why pay that money to watch a movie and then talk throughout the whole damn thing?

At the same time I'm afraid of being viewed as elitist in some way...am I being that way? Im pretty sure though we have to improve our civic sense when we watch movies.
