Do you think ramageddon will kill pc handhelds?

With this components crisis, I was wondering what the future of the handhelds will be.
I mean, they could remain as a very niche market, but there is also a big probability that asus, lenovo or valve stop manufacturing their respective handhelds since the average user can't afford 1.5k+ devices.

Would you switch from PC/ROG Xbox Ally X to Switch 2 because of future life priorities?

I’m a 30-year-old guy and I absolutely love gaming on a handheld. I’ve also always been a Nintendo guy, but I moved to PC gaming about three years ago. Eventually, I bought a Xbox Ally X and absolutely loved it.
Recently, I also bought a Switch 2, and I love it as well. Right now, my gaming devices would probably rank as:

  1. Xbox Ally X
  2. Switch 2
  3. PC
But lately I’ve been thinking about the future.
In a year or two, I’ll probably have kids, and obviously my priorities (and disposable income) are going to change. I’m worried that if PC hardware keeps getting more expensive, I might not be able to justify replacing or upgrading my PC or Ally X when they eventually stop working or become outdated.
For example, if something happens to my PC and I eventually need to rebuild my whole setup, I could easily be looking at something like $2,000–$3,000+. Meanwhile, if my Switch 2 eventually dies and I need to replace it, I’m basically looking at the cost of another console.
There’s another part of this that I’m struggling with: my PC library is already pretty decent. If I decide that I’m eventually going to move completely to Switch 2, I don’t really want to keep buying games on PC knowing that I might have to buy them again on Switch later. At the same time, I don’t want to stop buying games I actually want to play just because I might switch platforms in a couple of years.
So I’m starting to think that maybe I should make the Switch 2 my main gaming device. Not because I like it more than my Ally X—I actually prefer the Ally X right now—but because it feels like a much more realistic long-term option if my priorities change after having kids.
On the other hand, all of my current devices are working perfectly fine, so maybe I’m just overthinking this way too far into the future.
What would you do in my situation? Would you just keep enjoying the Ally X/PC while they last and deal with the problem when it happens, or would you intentionally move toward the Switch 2 as your main platform now?
And would you keep buying PC games in the meantime, or would you start building your Switch 2 library instead?

Thinking of moving from Xbox ally x to switch 2

I've always been a Nintendo guy, so back in 2017 I bought my switch 1 almost day one. I played a lot but obviously it was lacking of power. In 2024 I started to move to pc/handheld with the Rog Ally X (with bazzite) and the experience was flawless. This steamos-like device was amazing until I had offline issues with RDR2 (mainly due to rockstar launcher).
I upgraded to XAX but it has been a horrible experience. I noticed that two of the games that I play the most needed to download shaders everyday (No mana sky and overwatch). Also, (real) steamos has issues with the sleep mode: 1/5 times it didn't wake up so I had to full turn off and reboot. On the other hand, bazzite has audio issues which breaks the experience for me, and windows is windows hahaha.
I have the switch 2 already, with some games/upgrades and i missed so much the plug and play experience. I know it's a downgrade, but as a 30-year-old married guy, I don't wanna troubleshoot with the OS.
Any advice?

XAX TDP Issue with Linux

I've installed bazzite/steamos/cachyos on my Xbox Ally X but I noticed an issue with the TDP. On windows, if I set a 17W tdp mode, the total power usage will be stable around 27-28W.
In contrast, on bazzite, it will depend on the battery percentage. The lower the battery, the bigger the total tdp. At 100% it is around 24W; on 5% it will go up to 33W.
Has anyone got this same issue?
