Potentially moving from newburgh to Kingston - rental question

Hi,

I’m a teacher in Ulster County, lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, and have been exploring different areas to move to. Over the past few years, I’ve really fallen in love with Kingston and am interested in making the move there.

I’m curious to hear from residents, particularly other singles in their 30s. What neighborhoods or nearby areas would you recommend in kingston? I’d love to find somewhere that feels safe, has a sense of community, and is close to shops, cafes, and things to do.

I was also wondering if renters have had better luck working with a realtor or finding apartments through sites like Zillow and Redfin. Any advice, recommendations, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Local cattle ranchers in the Hudson valley

Anyone have any butchers or cattle ranchers in the HV they’d recommend? I’m trying to avoid getting leukemia from the trump beef 😅

Intarsia question

Should I make this into a blanket or a tapestry? How easily would the blanket be? I usually do my intarsia knits as tapestries because I’m too intimidated to do anything else!!

Regaining calf muscle 💪

Wanted to share how much I’ve gained since my cast removal in January. Still working on gaining it all back 🤦🏻‍♀️

Knee pain near meniscus

I’m 8 months post cast removal (no surgical) and have been back to lifting and cardio. The other day after running on the treadmill my knee was starting to hurt pretty bad. I took 3-4 days off from lifting and it’s a little better but still sore especially at night. Should I call my orthopedist or did I just overdo it? Also contemplating getting a sleeve for future exercise to prevent swelling and feel more stable.

Toe numbness while sleeping

I’m almost 8 months out from my cast removal- nonsurgical. Just the other day after going to a concert, standing all day, and driving in the car, my toe randomly started becoming numb while I was sleep. I usually wear a compression sleeve during the day too. The weird thing is that it’s not numb during the day and I’m not experiencing any weakness or loss of ability to walk, but I’m wondering if I should still make an appointment. Anyone else have this issue?

Sharing a positive note

I had a bimal fracture in November, no surgery, cast came off in January and had PT for ~20 weeks. Today reminded me of how far I have come because I was able to run on the treadmill for 5 minutes (which I know doesn’t sound like a lot) and I was able to do split squats with 30 pounds on my injured leg. I remember when I first went on the treadmill in PT after my cast came off how painful it was and I thought I’d never get to where I am now. For all of you who are in the midst of your injury or just getting back to walking, you got this! You are strong and resilient!

Recovering from broken ankle - help me with my split

I was super active before I broke my ankle in November- cardio 4-5x a week, leg day, arm day, and classes (yoga, Pilates, barre) mix, but now as I’m recovering I am finding myself wanting to solidify my workouts a bit more, especially that my mobility has decreased. This is what I’m doing currently:

Arm day 1-2x a week:
Lat pull downs 4x7 75 lb
Seated rows 4x8 70 lb
Bicep curls 4x7 25 lb
Bicep circles 5x5 20 lb dumbbell
Tricep extensions 4x8 20-25
Tricep overhead extensions 4x7 20-25 lb
(Finish with abs and cardio)

Leg day 2x a week:
Split squats 4x7 40 lb
Leg extension 4x8 120 lb
Glute lift 4x7 80 lb right now 😬
Adductor and abductor 4x7 or 8 with an isometric hold
Cable kickbacks 4x8
(Finish with abs and cardio)

Yoga & Hot Yoga 3x a week

HIIT class once a week

Sometimes I’ll do cardio in the morning of the day of my classes.

I want to slim out my lower abdomen and work on getting my muscle back and transforming my body to how it was pre-injury.

Inner ankle/achilles ligament pain

I’m 4 mo out of my cast (nonsurgical bimalleolar fracture) and I’ve been back to yoga and barre, still working on dorsiflexion and balance, but I still have horrible on the inner part of my ankle under my ankle bone and next to my Achilles. It hurts when I do calf raises and runners stretches. Is this normal? I know it takes a really long time for all the aches and pains to subside, but I’m worried it’s something more.

Also just wanted to tell everyone on this sub how strong they are and that everything will get better soon!

How long did it take for you guys to be able to do split squats no weights on your injured leg? I’m 4 months post cast and could barely do it today at the gym.

I’m 4ish months from my cast removal, nonsurgical, bimal fracture and I’m progressing normally (slowly), but I’m up all night moving my ankle around because it starts to feel foreign and frozen at night and I absolutely dread that feeling. Is this common for anyone else or can you sleep peacefully through the night without moving your ankle?
