Refund email from CS staff - Will they honor it?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some comments from anyone who has dealt with a similar Amazon CS refund process.

Briefly: My Kindle Scribe is frozen. Since I am currently located overseas (outside the US), returning the physical device via standard US return labels was practically impossible. After several rounds of discussions, Amazon CS made a one-time exception: they asked me to purchase a new device out-of-pocket using my credit card, and promised to process a full refund once it was delivered. I requested an email confirmation at that time (Photo 1 as below).

Current Status: The new device was delivered. I contacted support again today and spoke with a Specialist. They informed me that the refund to my VISA has been issued/requested and should reflect within 3-5 business days. To keep a record, I also asked for an email confirmation and received (Photo 2 as below).

My Questions:

  1. Has anyone been in a similar situation and actually received the money back to their credit card? Pls share your experience.
  2. Is the second email an actual backend-triggered transaction confirmation, or just a generic CS typing text?
  3. If the refund doesn't show up after 5 business days, do these official u/amazon.com emails serve as valid documentation for a bank dispute/chargeback?

Appreciate any experiences or insights from the community! Thanks!
