Hand still sticking to Scribe screen... nothing I've tried cleaning wise has helped. What to do?

When I first got my Scribe, my hand would glide across it as I wrote left to right. In the last 1-2 weeks, this has no longer been happening, the skin on my hand now "catches" or sticks to the screen, which is making it really annoying to write on now.

I literally don't know what to do. I've tried various microfiber cloths. I have tried dampening the cloths. I've tried spraying a cloth with glasses cleaning solution. I have tried using different products on my hands. I'm actually concerned that maybe the stuff I'm trying could even make it worse.

I cannot be the only person who has had this problem. If you have too, please speak up!!!

NOTE: When I lightly touch the screen, there is no problem. It is only has a drag my hand across as I'm writing.

Uploading notes to Google Drive

I am trying to decide between a Boox, Supernote, or Kindle Scribe.

The main capability I need is to convert my handwritten notes to text and upload that text to my Google Drive at work so that Claude has access to my work notes.

I have read that the newer versions of Kindle Scribe do connect with Google Drive. I just want to make sure that I would be able to upload text from my Kindle which is linked to my personal email and my google drive account at work which is linked to my work email.

If this is possible I would love to know. Thanks!

Attention Scribe Colorsoft owners!!

What are some amazing things you eventually discovered the SCS could do? Like is there a really inclusive user manual somewhere? I find little things whenever I use it but why doesn’t Amazon include all these uses/tips/tricks with the Scribe?

My scribe complaints

So I have been living with my Colorsoft and great enjoy it, but the one thing that I absolutely hate are the built in templates, mainly because I believe them to be too dark (like the dot page -- the dots are so flipping huge and dark that they interfere with my writing). Since Amazon isn't going to let us install our own, and since they seem to not have any desire to improve them, do you all just live inside of premade PDFs with a million pages in them?

I recently tried an AiPaper to try out and their templates are delightful and you can add to them (shocker).

So what are you guys doing for templates for things like better dot paper? I currently just write with a blank page always. Which is boring.

Anyone else have an unevenly-lit scribe 2025?

Just getting a feeler if this is common or not, I have a 2024 with a more even front light and wondering if it’s worth playing the screen - return lottery.

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft: Familiar Tech with Near-Flawless Execution (A Short Review)

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is a monster of an E-reader that cleanly defeats its closest competitors: The Kindle Scribe and the Kindle Colorsoft. While its name would lead you to believe it’s a Frankenstein mix of both of those models, it is something more. Its implementation of color e-ink technology is truly a technological marvel that needs to be seen in person to be appreciated.

If you’ve tried color e-ink before, you’re probably very familiar with the technology called Kaleido 3. If you’re unfamiliar with Kaleido 3, it’s an E Ink technology that places a color filter over a traditional black-and-white E Ink display. While the display itself contains only black and white pigment particles, the color filter is made up of a sheet of tiny red, green, and blue rectangles called subpixels. By controlling how much light is reflected through each colored subpixel with software, the display can produce thousands of different colors (a little over 4,000). Essentially, it’s using black and white ink to create color.

This technology comes with its own downsides. The one most people notice right away is the darkness of a Kaleido 3 screen. One of these screens is significantly darker than a black and white one with the exact same panel. Due to the filter over the text, even black and white images can look slightly hazy as light is diffused between the color layer.

This is a problem that plagues the Kindle Colorsoft as many reviewers have pointed out.

Now, I don’t know what kind of voodoo magic Amazon has created to make the screen of the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft as good as it is, but it’s the BEST Kaleido 3 screen on the market. Text is crisp, the color is expressive, and it looks almost like printed paper. In fact, the screen is so good and such a step up from the smaller Colorsoft that I’d argue that the Amazon team should have called it something else entirely.

The device is truly incredible, and if you can look past it’s equally unbelievable price point, I think it’s a worthwhile investment for any reader, even if you aren’t a comic reader. For my other Manga and comic book readers out there: this is a must!

Note: The picture is taken with an IPhone and with typical office ambient lighting. The front light is at about 50% brightness and warmness was adjusted to match ambient lighting.

Which files convert to kindle format most readily ?

Hey All, so most of my books are actually not kindle format (they are pdf or epub). I use the ‘send to kindle’ website to get them on my kindle and my scribe.

Using that method, some of them are properly converted so that I can use the full functionality of the toolbar and reflowable text while some are not entirely converted (I can see the book cover in my library and I can write on top of them but no sticky notes and they do not reflow). For example, some PDFs are accessible on my kindle after sending them via ‘send to kindle’ but they are not reflowable while others are .

Does anybody know what causes one vs the other and how I can ensure they are all properly converted ?

My suspicion is that the ones that are not properly converted do not have proper meta data accessible when using send to kindle (so perhaps images turned to PDFs , etc ). But I’m not sure…

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks a a lot.

How durable is the 1st gen Kindle Scribe screen from pen scratches?

I tried to put on a screen protector for my Kindle Scribe but there were too many bubbles. I was wondering for all owners out there, how durable is the Kindle screen from scratches. I plan to write a lot of notes on my Kindle with the pen that comes with it. I'm afraid overtime, it will scratch and damage the screen. Thank you.

Using 2 Kindle Scribes

I was with my Kindle Scribe Colorsoft today in the park, and I kept thinking, it would have been better to use my "older" 2024 Kindle Scribe instead, because if i drop it, who cares, it's my old Kindle Scribe.

Anyone with multiple Kindle Scribe uses their older Kindle Scribe for outdoors in the park or always uses your newer and more expensive Kindle Scribe no matter what?

Thoughts and questions after the first few days

The Scribe is pretty! The addition of color and a light is fantastic. (I come from from a world of having used a reMarkable 2 for quite a few years, usually as a notetaking device at work instead of the immense spiral notebooks that I used to use.)

  • The ability to import from Google Drive is fantastic.

  • File handling within Workspace seems terrible. I meant to put ten related files in their own folder to reduce clutter, but I can't figure out how to select more than one at a time.

  • There's no native .cbz reader, but I haven't had that since the Nook HD+.

  • A page seems to be a page, with no ability to keep scrolling down. That's both good and bad: important details can't hide further down, but it also means that sequential pages will be related and I'll need some way to distinguish entries.

  • Adding a page to the end of a Notebook is just as easy as it was.

  • Inserting a new page after the current non-last page seems much more involved.

  • I am used to the select feature only grabbing strokes completely within my selection area and ignoring anything that continues outside that area. Not so much anymore, have to be VERY careful in the selection.

  • Moving a selected area seems more cumbersome.

  • Undo and redo seem to require the onscreen buttons instead of also being able to tap with two fingers or three, respectively.

  • Being able to access my Kindle library is wonderful. This may supplant my Paperwhite.

  • I'm looking forward to annotating PDFs in color instead of greyscale writing on a greyscale PDF.

  • Response time is GOOD, compared to both the reMarkable 2 and the Paperwhite.

Kanji practice paper

Hi. I got my scribe to annotate my books, write a diary and write notes.

I study japanese in my freetime and would like to hear if there is a way to get kanji practice paper in as an option for notebooks.

How are you supposed to clean a scribe screen? Is microfiber not safe? Hand is sticking to screen, not sliding smoothly.

I’ve had my scribe for not yet two months, however, this week I have been having a problem where the skin on my hand sticks to the screen, it doesn’t slide smoothly. It’s suddenly made what was previously a joyful writing experience into something stressful. I thought that maybe the skin was dirty or something (my hands sweat sometimes when I use it) so I wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. This seems to have made little different. I also tried a lightly damp microfiber cloth on a few occasions - also not much difference.

I’m wondering if I need to be using a different product to clean the screen.

Pens for Colorsoft and Scribe are different.

Has anyone noticed the colorsoft has this round pen, whereas the black and white scribe has a flat side. If you try and buy the round one, you can’t find them, you can only find the one with a flat side.

Is there any actual difference function wise? I plan on selling my bw Scribe, but I think I’ll keep the pen that came with that one.

Viewing Kindle Scribe Notebooks on other Kindles

Is there a way to view Scribe notebooks on other Kindles? If not, is that functionality planned for the future? Thanks!

Got the new Scribe Colorsoft today — huge upgrade from the older Scribe!

Received my new Scribe Colorsoft today from the Prime deal, and after using it side-by-side with the older Kindle Scribe, I can already say this feels like a major upgrade.

The first thing I noticed is speed. The new Scribe Colorsoft is noticeably faster and smoother. Page turns, writing response, menus, and general navigation all feel much more responsive compared to the older Scribe.

The Colorsoft display is also a big improvement. Reading feels more vivid, especially with PDFs, comics, documents, and anything with highlights or visual content. It still has that Kindle/e-ink feel, but the added color makes the experience feel really good.

The included premium pen with eraser is another nice upgrade. Writing feels natural, and having the eraser built into the pen makes note-taking feel much easier. The color writing/highlighting makes notebook and document text stand out more.

One feature I was happy to see is the new connections section. The device now supports connecting to Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Microsoft OneNote, which is a big deal for anyone who wants to move documents and notes between Kindle and cloud services more easily.

A few early impressions:

The good:

  • Much faster than the older Kindle Scribe
  • Color display makes reading and documents look better
  • Writing feels smooth and natural
  • Premium Pen with eraser is very convenient
  • Google Drive, OneDrive, and OneNote connections are now available
  • Great for notes, PDFs, documents, and reading

Things to keep in mind:

  • It is still an e-ink device
  • The colors are more soft/subtle than bright OLED tablet screens
  • It is expensive, so the Prime deal definitely helped make it feel more worth it

Overall, very satsified with it so far. If you already have the older Scribe, and a good deal (upto 50% off). this is a meaningful upgrade because of the speed, color, pen experience, and cloud connections. For me, the new Colorsoft makes the Scribe feel much more useful as both a reading and note-taking device.

Sharing some pictures for anyone who is comparing it with the older Scribe.

National Geographic

Hello, does anyone read Nat Geo on their Scribe? I have the subscription and have tried to download the PDF. They have a watermark on them that makes it almost impossible to read. Any solutions?
