So I have a friend who called me and they are in the reserves. They went to BOLC and while backing out they scraped a car and did not leave a note due to not realizing. They tried to explain they had loud music so they did not realize it was scraped, and are now being sent home.

Apparentely someone witnessed it and went through chain of command to find out. Then they got pulled in and booted out of the course the next day.

What will happen can they come back or is their career over? They have no civilian job right now and they are devastated on how everything is crashing around them with no job and possibly getting kicked out. Hope to give them some reassurance but I think they're cooked.

Effective immediately, the following policy governs the ABCP. This policy is not retroactive, and where it conflicts with other Army directives or regulations, this directive is controlling. These provisions apply to all Soldiers, all cadets of the United States Military Academy and Senior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, all retention actions, and all military schools and institutional training courses (see reference 1h for graduation requirements)

WHtR is the Only Authorized ABCP Standard. The WHtR is adopted as the sole measurement for all Soldiers. The use of height and weight screening tables is discontinued.

(1) No secondary or supplemental body composition methods (such as the circumference-based tape test or other body fat assessments) are authorized for the purpose of challenging the results of the WHtR.

(2)All Soldiers will have their WHtR measured at least twice per calendar year.

(3)The standard is a WHtR of less than and not equal to 0.55.

Additional passages of note:
No AFT score exempts a Soldier from meeting the WHtR standard. AD 2025-17 is hereby rescinded.

The requirement for commanders to designate a non-commissioned officer for ABCP administration is hereby rescinded. Commanders are directly responsible for the oversight, quality control, and execution of the body composition program within their unit.

Progression requirements and mandatory monthly assessments while enrolled in theABCP are hereby rescinded. Commanders and supervisors will determine when to assess Soldiers and will administratively remove a Soldier from the ABCP as soon as the Soldier meets the WHtR standard.

Some Commentary;

• For a 5' 10" man or woman, you must have a waist below 38.5.
• There are no progression requirements. This seems to be...at the discretion of the Commander in its entirety.
• Unclear how you now 'fail' in order to initiate separation - the next 180 days, no separations allow until the Army assesses the impact of this policy.
• No more dexa/bodpod evaluations or AFT exemption.
• You must have a completed worksheet done and recorded in ATIS within 90 days.

Run more and stop being fat as fuck. Read ATP 7-22.01 and the Army Directives related to AR 600-9 and figure out what the standard actually is.

A commission is a privilege, not a right. If you’re borderline failing the run and are worried about passing at CST, it’s literally your fault. You had at least a year to fix this. If you have an injury, ask your PMS to delay your CST to next year.

BLUF:

- Mustaches are still authorized.

- Sideburns can no longer extend past the top of the opening of the ear canal. They previously could not extend past the bottom of the ear canal.

- Re-evaluation of all facial hair religious accomodation requests will begin immediately and conclude no later than 4 months from now.

- Re-evaluation of all appearance and uniform religious accomodation requests will begin no earlier than 4 months from now and conclude no later 8 months from now.

- Recommendation for approval or disapproval of religious accomodation requests will be given by the immediate commander, O-5 commander, and GCMCA authority (active) or first general officer in the chain of command (guard/reserves).

- Approval or disapproval authority lies with the Assistant Secretary of Army for Manpower & Reserve Affairs.

- If their RA approval is rescinded after re-evaluation, Soldiers must return to AR 670-1 standards within 24 hours.

- If a commander believes there is an issue of sincerity with an RA, a request for review will be forwarded to the GCMCA/first general officer in the chain of command.

Just had a discussion with a field grade who didn’t realize that when you submit a pass from Day X thru Day Y, it starts at the end of the duty day before Day X.

Yeah, I know.

It did raise a valid question though… why does a pass start the day before the start date while leave starts at 0000 the day of?

Because some of ya’ll don’t know how to read and certain individuals like to leave out information in the pursuit of recruiting, this post serves as clarification on the relationship between SMP enrollment, scholarships, and competing for active duty.

BLUF: YOU CAN ONLY DO 2 OUT OF THE FOLLOWING 3 ACTIONS AT ANY INSTANCE.

1. COMPETE FOR ACTIVE DUTY

2. ENROLL IN SMP

3. HAVE A FEDERALLY-FUNDED SCHOLARSHIP

What does this mean? It means you have three options.

Option 1: If you want to compete for active duty and want to enroll in SMP, you should not have or accept a federally-funded scholarship. Getting a scholarship while SMP means it will only be a GRFD scholarship and you will be locked into the Guard or Reserves. Alternatively, you could give up your national scholarship so you can enroll in SMP, but that’s not a good idea.

Option 2: If you have a federally-funded scholarship and want to compete for active duty, you cannot/should not enroll in SMP. Doing so will convert your scholarship to a GRFD scholarship and you will be permanently locked into the Guard or Reserves.

Option 3: If you enroll in SMP and have a federally-funded scholarship, that scholarship is automatically a GRFD scholarship and you are permanently ineligible to compete for Active Duty.
