Genuine question why do people give influencer so much importance

I was born in 2000, so I’ve watched the rise of influencer culture in real time. And honestly, I still don’t fully understand it.

Before the COVID era — which pains to say it — public attention usually went to people who had actually done something.

  1. Who studied or discovered ,did good deed or very evil deeds

2.rich people

3.vert attractive and handsome physically looking humans

4.celebrity ,actors musicians who contrive art or music things

5.cookoo people but they also last only till incident is fresh

6.murderd people , murderers,and terrorist

Now?

People who contribute almost nothing can become globally famous just by filming themselves talking to a camera, selling a lifestyle, faking relatability, or posting low-effort content every single day.

And what confuses me is this:

Our attention and time has value.

These influencers exist where they are because millions of people willingly hand those things over to them every day.

Why?

Why give your energy to people who constantly lie to your face, fake perfection, manufacture drama, pretend to be authentic while selling products every five minutes, and contribute nothing meaningful?

Some of them end up at places like the Oscars, Cannes, global events — spaces once reserved for people who created art, ideas, discoveries, movements, or something that genuinely impacted the world even if it is evil as shit .

And I genuinely want to understand:

What makes influencers so important to people?

How can someone whose entire content requires 1% of their brain cells suddenly have millions hanging onto every word they say?

Why does their opinion influence your life?why do you let them

Because this isn’t a small thing anymore. Influencers are everywhere now. They shape trends, language, beauty standards, politics, relationships, self-worth, even attention spans.

We used to admire people because they achieved something.

Now we often admire people simply because they are visible.

So just give reasons,oh hell make me understand why or how this exist ?

Do you ever feel tinge of good and relief when someone ahead of you falls behind

Here me out ,am sane overthinking person who does good deeds and all,and despite what I feel i always do the right thing

But me being in 20s seeing some or most people ahead of me when it comes to money ,career, relationships and also my friends whom I support of course and never show my jealousy and always be happy for them .

Its just sometimes I feel am toxic ,because I have felt this multiple times ,but I never consciously wanted their downfall unless they deserved it but that's different thing
