Feeling uncomfortable

So I’m aware a lot of people who follow the seven tenets don’t actually have official memberships, I was wondering if this precludes me from anything. Mostly I’m looking for a space where people share my values but I’m going through the process of being accepted as a “member” of the Illinois chapter and the idea of “joining” a religious group brings up weird feelings in my body that almost feel like religious trauma.

It’s that feeling where you escaped the control of one entity only to fall under the control of someone else. I’ve been enjoying the freedom of non-affiliation to any religious group and don’t feel ready to say “I’m part of/a member of/this or that religion”.

How do you all feel regarding this? And yes, I’m aware not everyone in TST has religious trauma.

Feeling fine in the middle of the night just before bed then waking up extremely depressed and anxious and the cycle repeats..

I thought this was a mental health thing for the longest time but I’m thinking it’s a result of the crappy sleep I get and lack of oxygen.
