Is this coursework depricated or is it still available? I have been trying to sign up for it, but the page is broken.

Tips for a one-upper?

I F15 go to a Catholic high school (for those who have not seen me before), and I’m out as an atheist and that’s been going…mostly fine. In my other classes, no one really cares about it (phew), however this one kid in theology (of course it’s fucking theology) always tries to one-up me by giving stories about supposed atheists that became Christians after “seeing God” whenever I try to get a more grounded answer to the teacher’s question.

its honestly annoying af and (probably unintentionally) paints atheists as idiots that are disconnected to the Earth.

help lol this kid is EXHAUSTING 😭

I've been told I'm larping

So I've been told I'm larping because I identify with satanism as more of a philosophy than anything, and I couldn't directly reference the tenets off by heart.

Is this true, and if so how do I correct being a "larper"?

I'm seriously considering leaving The Satanic Temple and leaving my Satanist journey behind because this has happened so frequently with me.

Baby Satanist here

Im new to Satanism

I was wondering what holidays and rituals we all do?

I only know about the holidays that are told in the Q&A on the website which is only 4 days but I've been told that there are up to 8 holidays. (╥﹏╥)

A quick story of my journey into Satanism... and why it might matter to you.

Good morning, all!

I'm a relatively new Satanist. It's been less than a year since I got my TST card in the mail and declared myself as a Satanist to myself and to those closest around me. It started, as many similar stories do, as kind of a joke/middle finger to "the man". You see, I am a federal employee at a large federal agency, and I have gotten more than a bit jaded by the current administration in many ways. You can find me if you care to Google a bit, and I'm fine with that... I'm a straight white male and one aspect of my privilege is that I don't have to worry too much about having my association with Satanism cause me job/financial problems. My boss, in fact, has been incredibly supportive. I haven't told my family or my wife's family and don't plan to, but I also won't deny it if it comes up.

Anyway, I digress. One of the ways the administration upset me is their policies on "religious freedom" in the federal workplace which is basically the freedom for Christians and Jews to be Christian or Jewish but everyone else can kinda f off. Last year, the administration put out an EO that, among other things, says that federal employees should feel comfortable displaying their religious icons in their work space, and even that "Employees may... attempt[sic] to persuade others of the correctness of their own religious views, provided that such efforts are not harassing in nature." This pissed me right off, as separation of church and state is absolutely fundamental to my beliefs AS AN AMERICAN, not just as a person or as a Satanist. You can find that EO here if you're curious: https://www.opm.gov/chcoc/latest-memos/protecting-religious-expression-in-the-federal-workplace.pdf. Oh, and we were also told that Christmas trees are fine, even in public spaces because they're not inherently religious and can be enjoyed by everyone. :HUGE EYEROLL:

So, I 3d printed myself a bust of Baphomet, put it on my desk, and worked to organize a few Satanic celebrations at work. All harmless and clearly meant to be antagonistic to the policies that I disagreed with. A few people showed up to my Sol Invictus event and I was overall happy with the acceptance I've gotten from my coworkers.

Since then, I've spent more time reading up on the philosophy of TST and other forms of Satanism, and I've realized that it really does fit my life, the way I see the world, the way I interact with others. So, I've become an ACTUAL Satanist, and while I'm still on my journey for knowledge I've started wearing a symbol of Baphomet and got a tattoo of the Leviathan Cross... things that, for me, cement my belief in the tenets.

I also have started to try to find a Satanic community, and that's been a bit of a struggle. I live in the DC metro area and I was surprised to find very little TST presence here. I later came to find out that there USED to be a pretty big group, but they were part of the splintering that happened a few years ago, and now that group is pretty vehemently anti-TST. They still seem like great people and I hope to go to events hosted by them, etc.

I did really enjoy attending the Satanic Revival a few weeks ago in Baltimore... it was a highlight of my journey so far to be around others who understand. Yelling "Hail Satan!" as a group in the downtown area of a city felt liberating.

OK so now to the point of this post... one of the things I've been trying to do is come up with ways that I can create traditions for our family that don't involve Christianity. We'll still do Christmas with the kids for the sake of exchanging presents, but I was particularly annoyed by Easter this year, when people kept wishing me Happy Easter and asking what service I was going to attend... None. None, thanks. I also was frustrated because my daughter asked me "Dad, do we have any culture? A lot of my friends have culture and I feel like we should too." She meant traditions, but it grated on me that she even had to ask the question.

So, I started looking around for things I could do as a Satanist with my family to celebrate the views I hold. We drank mocktails out on our back porch for Hexennacht, for example. I'm working on coming up with more traditions like this that we can enjoy as a family without having to hold up a cross and repent our "sins", ya know?

Then this morning, I came across a post on this subreddit from a "baby Satanist" who was just asking what celebrations and rituals others in TST do. Instead of people giving them information, they were immediately hit with "we don't do that, you're looking for LaVeyan Satanism" and "this isn't the place for that" posts, and I was really stunned at the negativity. Here is a person who obviously felt "othered" otherwise they wouldn't be finding Satanism to begin with, and when they asked a simple (and, in my opinion, totally pertinent) question to the community that they found, they were IMMEDIATELY pushed away.

This treatment smacks, to me, of elitism, and is ABSOLUTELY not how we should be treating people who are genuinely curious about our beliefs. Curiosity is FUNDAMENTAL to Satanism, and questions like this should be met with enthusiasm while also informing the person. I responded with what I hope is a useful comment. I was there just a few months ago, and if I had gotten this response, I might have shrugged and just kept thinking of TST as a joke, a way to give the finger to the administration, and never started my real journey.

TL;DR: When someone comes looking for information, don't send them away. Foster their better understanding of TST and what we all have in common. We have enough enemies, we don't need to make more.

HAIL SATAN!

Quick edit: I appreciate others jumping in and letting me know that there was more context to that post that I missed... apparently the person has since edited out a mention of the SB, which definitely changes the context a little. Still, let's try to be supportive of baby Satanists anyway!!

Pics of My Altar that None of you Asked For 👹

Took a ton of time, planning, and research, but I’m seriously so proud of my altar. One of my favorite places in the whole crib. I simply have to show some of the only people in the world who will find resonance with it. It is a raw and honest expression of my creativity.

Yes, I utilize imagery from both CoS as well as TST. Personally, I feel that we satanists, regardless of denomination, have far more that unites us than divides us. A disagreement here and there should not put us at odds. We have the Abrahamic sheep for that, hail Satan!

Anti Bot

I’ve listened to a few interviews with Anti-Bot. At this point I feel like her affiliation with Satanism, her support of TST and Christianity poses a real philosophical challenge for TST if one listens to her position closely.

In short, if TST is defined mainly by compassion, justice, bodily autonomy, and moral humility and then we are told those tenets are basically Christian by Anti Bot, then the question is not whether someone can be both Christian and Satanist. The question is whether TST is a actually Satanism in any serious sense.

Atheist and Little Free Library steward visiting with a question.

Hello y’all,

I’ve had a Little Free Library (one of those small community book exchanges) on my property for years. To my frustration, toxic Christian literature regularly finds its way into said library. I discard it, it reappears, endless cycle.

A nearby MAGA church recently built their own community library, large crosses emblazoned on the sides and everything. It occurred to me that I could return the favor. And, though I don’t identify as a Satanist(?) I do agree with their humanist values and appreciate the effect literature from your community would have on that congregation.

If it’s too much of a troll, I fully understand, but, assuming it’s not, I’m looking to acquire literature from the Satanic Temple and wondering if any of you would know how I could track it down?
