Smartwatch as a phone?

Just curious about the concept of Smartwatch as a primary phone!

I have been looking for some alternatives to decrease my screen time and for social media detox,

I came to know about two recent launches Dumber mini phone, and sidephone as the best options with most modern apps (Banking, Auth, maps etc)

I was looking for the Chinese options to upgrade with dumber os but came to know they might have firmware restrictions, Chinese spyware (trust issues with banking softwares) and some don't have 4G LTE, which is basically needed here in Ireland.

I was thinking just having a normal phone with WiFi and a good watch, mostly android as apple watch needs a companion iPhone, to be connected with your loved ones, and pretty much alot of things, although no banking apps but sure NFC for payment.

All I'm worried about is notifications, mails, I know WhatsApp messaging would be a bit hard.

I never owned any Smartwatch, please let me know why an android watch is not discussed and what would be the limitations if I pair it with my laptop to setup?

New to this, would appreciate your valuable insights! 🙏
