Sorry if this is a basic question about 24V vs 12V setups

Well, I am very new to heavy-duty mechanics and I am attempting to get my head around how truck starter systems actually manage the huge torque required to start a diesel engine. I have found that some of the older rigs we have in the shop use series-parallel switch to jump to 24V just to start up, with the newer ones appearing to stay on 12V but with much higher amperage.

Does the industry have a particular reason why they stopped using 24V starters or was I simply looking at a strange subgroup of trucks? I am attempting to find some replacement parts to a 2012 Freightliner and I am seeing so many different options on Alibaba and eBay that I am afraid that I'll select the wrong voltage and destroy the entire system. And, in any case, does it make any difference whether I use a gear-reduction motor or the direct-drive one in cold climates? I have been told that gear-reduction gears will be able to work better with thick oil, though I do not want to complicate the repair in case there is a decent motor that will perform well. Thanks so much to all those who take the time to reply.

Which is more important, the placements or the quantity?

I kind of have a thing with houses, from the outside to the inside, the whole thing, which may sound weird. Recently, I've discovered that, even when a room is well-organized and set up, some feel perfect, while others seem to be lacking something.

Since a well-lit space has a certain atmosphere, I started to wonder if it had anything to do with the lighting, especially downlighting. Although I don't have much experience with them, I believe it simply works as long as there aren't any strange dark corners or harsh shadows.

Based on my limited understanding of architecture, I am aware that the purpose of the space may influence the placement of the lighting.

Out of curiosity, I started investigating further to find out if locations are important, if you simply need enough lights, or if there are additional factors to consider. On Alibaba, I came across rows of like fixtures and started to question what made one better than the other. I basically clicked on setups and examples without being particularly detailed in my search.

If you have previously worked with downlights, what made a difference in your experience? Was it having a lot of it or the placements?

It could not have been the pool, definitely a nostalgic feeling

I stumbled on it while organizing some stuff at my parent’s place. It was a little dusty, folded awkwardly in the corner, and its colors had faded . I nearly went by it, it was one of those kids pools-old.

However, something caused me to pause and open it. I could still visualize it even though it had lost much of its shape. We were impatient and would fill it halfway. The water would warm up more quickly than you anticipated. As if it were a genuine swimming pool, there were arguments over who got in first.

It's funny how, in those days, something so this small could amuse us. I pondered on how normal everything felt at the moment for a little longer than I had intended. No extensive preparation or setup. Noise, water, and a group of children attempting to maintain their composure.

Later that evening, I saw that I was curiously examining the most recent versions. I'm simply curious if they still produce them in the same manner, not to purchase one. Once more, I landed on those deeper pages that resembled supplier listings rather than real stores. It made me think of the kind of things you might anticipate behind Alibaba, where you see rows of identical drawings and come to the conclusion that these things never truly disappeared.

I did not find any that looked like that one, it could not have been the pool, definitely the memories with it.

ube cake baking science why does my purple yam batter turn grey-green?

We are trying to scale up a purple yam sweet bread recipe at my bakery startup, but using a dehydrated ube baking ingredient powder is causing a massive headache. The raw batter is a perfect, vibrant purple color, but after the bake step, the interior crumb completely shifts to a sad grey-green. Our current leavening system relies heavily on sodium bicarbonate, and I know anthocyanins are highly sensitive to pH changes. Did the alkalinity of the baking soda completely degrade the natural purple pigment during the bake cycle? Would switching to a standard baking powder or adding a mild acidulant protect the color stability at 350F without changing the flavor profile?
